Construit pour remplacer un autre marché démoli en 1876, il fut inauguré en 1930. L'intérieur a été entièrement rénové suite aux travaux de rénovation des installations réalisés entre 2010 et 2011.
Le projet d'une fortification moderne pour défendre cette partie de la côte portugaise remonte au XIVe siècle, avec la construction du Fort de Santiago do Outão, destiné à contrôler l'entrée du fleuve.
Le parc naturel d'Arrábida est une réserve biogénétique située sur la péninsule de Setúbal, couvrant les communes de Palmela, Setúbal et Sesimbra, avec l'altitude la plus élevée au Pico do Formosinho (501 m d'altitude), dans le district de Setúbal, au Portugal. Il s'étend sur 35 kilomètres.
Azeitão est formé par les anciennes paroisses d'Azeitão (São Lourenço et São Simão), partageant le nom de "de Azeitão", grâce aux vastes oliveraies qui, à l'époque arabe, dominaient ces régions.
Le château de Palmela est situé dans le village, paroisse et municipalité du même nom, district de Setúbal, au Portugal. Du haut de son donjon, par temps clair, la vue s'ouvre sur Lisbonne.

After several days of exploring on our own, this was a perfect way to see some new areas while giving our legs a rest. Our guide, Diogo, truly went above and beyond to make this a memorable day for us (including a wine/art tour and finding a handmade tile shop on our way!). He was a wealth of knowledge about the history of the area, and even tied in the history of the places we visited on the tour with the places we’d already seen to really understand how it all connected! Truly a wonderful day - our only regret was that we booked this near the end of our vacation and couldn’t have him take us on another excursion.

Had a fantastic time on this tour, my parents were super impressed with how knowledgeable our guide was with the area and all the sites were incredible. Would definitely recommend if you have limited time in Setubal to hit the main spots!

Diogo Sampaio gave us the best tour of Setubal 10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves to learn the history of on area or have convenient door to door tours of an unfamiliar area. We will be back for another tour very soon!
