The tour was informative, but it could have visited more sites. Many of the churches cannot be entered without paying. There were no drinks as described on the tour page.
The tour itself was good but it is actually a free walking tour. The next day we saw it advertised for free. At the end of the tour I was surprised that the guide asked for $10-$20/ per person in tips. I was surprised by that but makes sense now that I know most of the people were there for free
Very professional guide who explained information on the numerous stops on the walk clearly and concisely. Nice rooftop bar on the main square that we stopped at. Beautiful views over the city with the volcanoes as a beautiful back drop.
Really enjoyed this walking tour. As well as seeing lots of sights the guide also gave out a lot of suggestions of other things to see and do. The only thing I didn’t like was at the end the guide told us they expected tips the reason why and how much to tip. I come from a country that does not have a culture of tipping and don’t appreciate being told to tip and how much to tip.
The tour took us to some very good spots and gave us a good history of the area immediately surrounding the Plaza de Armas. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Now the things I did not like. The listing says that coffee and tea will be included. That is completely false. The title makes it sound like you will stop for a drink somewhere while in reality you are taken to one bar and given half a shot of a local fermented drink to taste and then recommended coming back later and purchasing drinks after the tour to see the view from the location. Lastly, two stops before the end of the tour there is a very hard sell for gratuities which are recommended at 100% to 200% the cost of the tour. And then we are told that at the next stop if you do not have cash there is an ATM available. After basically demanding the gratuity it is then said that it is voluntary.
As you said the tour explain you will stop for a drink and while the guise explains about wha you will see on the rooftop viewpoint you can sea and relax or use for.free toilet there and it was not a bar as you said is a reataurant and it was provided a drink that all tourist in the walk enjoy more than tea or coffee and is meaninful and very important in South America drink that you mentioned in a derogatory way, surely because you didn't pay attention to the explanation of the guide, so who gave a false starement is you and with the tour you went to the rooftop having great views of the volcanoes and the city for free, and the guide just said if you want to enjoy the sunset with great view of the golden hour you could go back to that rooftop that tourist love, but of course next time if you dont go with the tour you have to consume something of the place as in any other restaurant but again you didnt pay attention properly. And newsflash for you tipping is customary and expected in South America because tour guides rely on tips to make up the bulk of their income, gratuity is heavily integrated into the country's economic. And no matter how much you país for the city tour bye the way our price is really a bargain unlike most offered the guide suggests the aversge ammount for this service as in big cities of Colombia Ecuador or Perú, and some customers ask if they can tip with card or ask for an ATM , that's why he told that to the group and when he finish clearly said those who want to leave a tip you can approach and leave it to the guide and not like you falsely said that you were compelled, you left nothing and he always was polite and said goodbye with a smile, if you have a bad day I suggest better cancel a tour you have organized in any city you visit if you are going to take your bad mood in the tour and not pay attention th the guide.
Knowing the historic centre of Arequipa with a prepared guide is very important to get the most out of what the city has to offer.
Good informative tour around the centre of the lovely city of Arequipa. Sometimes difficult to follow because of the rapid rate of speech but definitely worthwhile as the guide took us to places we were unlikely to find on our own. The only annoying aspect was at the end of the tour when the guide started to outline what was an acceptable tip! Which I thought was a lot. especially when we had already paid for the tour.
This was a free walking tour and you're just pre-paying the tips. There was no coffee/tea/snacks included despite what the listing indicates - though the guide did bring us to a stop where we could buy the food/drinks. Tour was decent and the guide gave a good introduction to the city's sights and history.
Well-executed guided tour through the city with incredibly committed guide with a twinkle in his eye. We got a fantastic tour through the grandiose and the small hidden gems that you normally can not access.
I had a great time on this walking tour, Johan was very insightful providing plenty of information about the city, buildings and history. He was also super friendly and pointed out plenty of good spot to go to for food and coffee as well.
