Itinéraire
Nous visiterons le Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. L'AWCC a ouvert ses portes au public en 1993. Il est situé sur 140 acres à la limite sud de Turnagain Arm et à l'entrée de la vallée de Portage. La mission du centre est de fournir des soins et la réadaptation pour les animaux sauvages blessés et orphelins et de fournir une éducation et une sensibilisation à la faune. Les animaux qui ne peuvent pas être relâchés ou survivre à l'état sauvage sont réfugiés dans les habitats spacieux du centre. Ici, les gens peuvent s'approcher en toute sécurité, observer et photographier certains des plus grands animaux terrestres de l'Alaska, notamment l'orignal, le bison, le wapiti, le cerf, le caribou, l'ours bœuf musqué, les petits mammifères et les oiseaux de proie. Au printemps et en été, les visiteurs peuvent souvent assister à la réhabilitation de bébés animaux orphelins de diverses espèces.
Beluga Point est une zone qui doit son nom aux bélugas que l'on peut observer depuis le rivage, surtout pendant les mois d'été (juillet à août). Cette zone offre plusieurs attractions naturelles qui en font une halte populaire pour les visiteurs, comme la faune sauvage et des vues à couper le souffle sur Turnagain Arm, une voie navigable étroite entourée de montagnes. Le décor pittoresque des montagnes et de l'océan offre des opportunités de photographies époustouflantes et de réflexion tranquille. Parfois, nous pouvons également observer un phénomène appelé mascaret, où un mur d'eau se précipite, inversant le cours de la rivière. La vague de mascaret peut être observée le long de Turnagain Arm, et Beluga Point est l'un des endroits où les gens se rassemblent pour assister à cet événement naturel.
Turnagain Arm est une magnifique voie navigable semblable à un fjord située au sud-est d'Anchorage, en Alaska, connue pour ses marées spectaculaires, ses vues à couper le souffle sur les montagnes et sa faune abondante. Faisant partie de Cook Inlet, elle présente l'une des plus grandes étendues de marée au monde, créant un mascaret unique où une vague se précipite vers l'intérieur des terres à marée haute. Les visiteurs aperçoivent souvent des bélugas, des mouflons de Dall et diverses espèces d'oiseaux le long de ses rives. La Seward Highway, qui longe Turnagain Arm, offre l'une des routes les plus pittoresques d'Alaska, avec des vues sur des montagnes escarpées et de vastes vasières. Votre guide fera plusieurs arrêts en cours de route pour prendre des photos et donner des explications.

- Le niveau d'activité est facile. Les clients doivent pouvoir marcher sur de courtes distances sur un sol inégal. La surface des sentiers varie du terrain pavé au terrain naturel accidenté. Les participants doivent pouvoir marcher sur une courte distance et pouvoir monter et descendre du véhicule avec un minimum d'assistance. Nous recommandons vivement aux clients ayant besoin d'assistance d'être accompagnés par un compagnon capable, totalement responsable, de prêter assistance. . Definitely a good tour to book. We got a full 2hours at the conservation park which you really need to walk the whole place without rushing. We were lucky that a group had cancelled so we had Albert as our "private" tour guide. Such a nice guy & so interesting to talk to. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Stopped along the way and driver gave and pointed a lot of facts about the area and animals. Saw Doll sheep on the rocks and an eagles nest with babies along the way and stopped to photograph. Once at conservation center they drove us through, then dropped us off to explore on our own. Loved seeing the animals up close.

The tour was basically a lot of driving while the guide talked about past experiences and showed us videos of past experiences. We saw a handful of animals at the rescue/conservation center. The guide pretty well excluded us as he was exchanging contacts and information with the other family. P.S. Snacks were mentioned, but not offered. Obviously, we are from out of town and are not familiar with Anchorage. The guide seemed irritated when asked about parking.

Very informative guide. Breathtaking scenic drive. Great first day activity. Bundle up if it’s cool outside.
Very scenic and informative. Nice small group. Wildlife conservation center windy and cold that detracted from experience but can’t help that. Not as many animals as I expected but wide variety. Had time to walk around on our own which was good. Made handful of stops on way to center. Snow capped mountains were beautiful.

Albert was very friendly and gave us a fun tour. He made multiple stops for pictures, and helped us get some great shots of the wildlife. He was very informative and told us a lot about the local area. Everyone had wonderful time on the excursion.
Very reasonable price considering all the transportation, information, and interaction. Our guide was Albert. He was very knowledgeable about the area, history, and wildlife. Wish we had more time at the conservation center but definitely glad we went. Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys wildlife, but maybe try and plan for more than 1 hour.
