From the time the bus picked us up to the whale watching cruise to the return bus trip, this tour was fantastic. Chris, the driver, was knowledgeable and funny. He gave clear information kindly. The whale excursion was stunning, and the guides were very knowledgeable and wanted to make sure we had a great time. One of the guides, Dale, knew the whales extensively and is obviously very passionate about sharing his knowledge, although he could be a bit gruff at times. The only complaint would be when we first got off the ship, the young men who were to check us in were difficult to find, as they weren’t holding signs up and were busy kicking each other. We had to ask other tour directors where our tour met. Not a great first impression, but the tour from that point on was fantastic.
Great boat crew and saw lots of whales! Crew went above and beyond to make our experience the best!!
This event was Amazing! At first, I thought it was the usual hokey event similar to Disney’s Sea World, but this experience took my breath away. I felt like I was more as man and nature, and not unobserver looking in from the outside. I NEVER experienced anything like the whales bubble nesting! Truly awesome creatures and nature!
This was absolutely fabulous! We saw tons of whales, sea lions, and even a sea otter. I have a handicapping condition and Dale particularly took special care of me.. All the guides were very knowledgeable. This was awesome!Thank you so much!! Laura
The eight of us had an unforgettable whale watching tour on 14th August. Harv and Marv staff made it such an incredible trip - I learned a lot and achieved a bucket list activity. I will never forget this trip. Magical!!
"Magical" -- a perfect description for seeing whales in the wild! Thanks so much for this awesome review -- tis truly appreciated!
We did this tour while in Juneau. After doing some research online, we decided to do a private tour since there were 6 of us (3 couples) on our trip. We thought it would be nice to have our own driver/guide and boat so as to not be "fighting" over viewing space. This tour was great! Highly recommend it. Graham was our boat "captain", and he was awesome. Personable, knowledgeable and highly respectful of marine life. He took us to 2 different areas to view whales. We were able to see a group of 7-8 humpback whales at our first stop, with one being a juvenile who put on quite a show for us -- we got to see "him" breach the water several times (2 complete breaches) and a lot of fin slapping. Then we went to a 2nd area where we got to see a group of at least 15 humpbacks who were bubble net feeding (got to see it about 4-5 times before we ran out of time for our tour). This was a spectacular event to be able to see. Both of these behaviors are rare, so I would not expect to see these on your trip. We were apparently very lucky to see both on the same day. Even so, just seeing these magnificent creatures in the wild is something to behold. Even just seeing their backs as they dive as well as some tails is amazing. I would do this again in a heartbeat! The only thing I will note is that there were other excursions we did on our trip where we booked private tours, and we were picked up by our guide and started our private tour immediately. We were expecting this with this tour, but we were "herded" onto buses with other large groups -- probably many from the cruise line -- so there was a good amount of time spent going and coming just from the docks where the tour boats were that we did not expect. Therefore, our actual water time was less than we expected. We may have been more disappointed in this than we actually were had we not got to see the whale activity/behaviors that we did. All in all, well worth it!
Dawn, thanks for the thorough, enthusiastic review and recommendation! We're sorry if you felt the transportation leg fell short of expectations but are thrilled you and your group had such an excellent time on the water :)
Wow! We didn't expect to see 1 whale but we saw 30! And they were swimming together to form a bubble net to get the herring into their circle for their lunch! It was amazing. Our guides knew exactly where to take the boat and they moved it several times so we saw this bubble net making 3 times! The guides were funny and very knowledgeable about humpback whales and whales in general. He also knew quite a bit about football. I highly recommend this tour!
Ha -- getting a guide knowledgeable about whales AND football -- how lucky are you :) Thanks so much for the awesome review and recommendation! Tis truly appreciated.
Excellent tour. Thank you Dalton .
Thanks so much for this great review! Tis truly appreciated :)
This whale watching tour was the best one I have been on! Chris and Dylan were excellent guides and very knowledgeable. It was a wonderful experience and we made lasting memories!
Wow, we love to hear we are someone's "best experience ever"! Thanks so much for the great review :)
We got very lucky to have gorgeous weather and get to see once in a lifetime whale activity (bubbling) involving at least 20 humpbacks, we had the very best naturalist guide guide, Chris, and the equally wonderful captain, Dylan. This was so much more than a scenic ride. Their passion for whales made me into a fellow obsessive fan of these giant, incredible mammals. Chris’ love for each unique whale in the waters we traveled was contagious. There wasn’t a boring moment or a lost opportunity for education. It was something I’ll never forget. I am truly glad to have had such incredible guides to bring the nature we saw into such vivid and exciting detail.
We are blushing at this amazing review :) Thank you so much for posting, and we are thrilled you had such a wonderful experience with us!
