First thing in the morning we walked 20 minutes to where we were supposed to meet only to find out that the address was not correct. We have saved all pics and documents showing where we were to meet. Us and about 29 other people we told to go here. After numerous attempts to contact someone we all walked 20 minutes back to port to find guides waiting there. We quickly all got loaded. Unfortunately our van had two crying/screaming kids on the trip which made it impossible to enjoy or hear the guide. We booked an English guide and most of the trip was spoken in Spanish. Hoping viator reaches out to us as we have booked a lot of trips thru them. To us this trip started out wrong and never got any better. The guide on the other bus was amazing and felt bad.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Regarding the meeting point, we sent the correct pickup location link in our email confirmation. It's possible there was a system error within the booking app that displayed a different location, and we will investigate this further to help prevent similar issues in the future. We're also sorry that the presence of young children and the language mix affected your enjoyment of the tour. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention, and your feedback will be shared with our team as we continue to improve our service.
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding a recent tour booking in Iceland made through Viator. Our group of eight experienced significant issues due to incorrect directions provided in the Viator app for the designated meeting point. On the day of the tour, we followed the directions exactly as listed in the app. However, these directions led us approximately 15 minutes in the wrong direction. As a result, we lost about 30 minutes attempting to locate the correct meeting point and recover from the error. When we contacted the local tour operator, they acknowledged the issue but stated that Viator was responsible for providing the incorrect directions. This suggests a breakdown in coordination and quality control between Viator and its partner operators. Importantly, we were not the only ones affected. At least six other participants on the same tour reported receiving the same incorrect directions, indicating a systemic issue rather than an isolated incident. This situation caused unnecessary stress, wasted time, and negatively impacted the overall experience for our group. For a paid tour service, especially one booked through a reputable platform like Viator, we expect accurate logistical information and better accountability between partners. I request that Viator: • Investigate and correct the inaccurate meeting point directions in the app immediately. • Clarify responsibility between Viator and the local operator to prevent future occurrences. • Provide appropriate compensation or goodwill gesture for the inconvenience caused to our group. I would appreciate a prompt response outlining how this issue will be addressed.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you and your group experienced. We take your concerns seriously and are currently looking into the meeting point information to determine what caused the discrepancy. If there is an issue with how the directions are displayed in the app, we will work to have it resolved as quickly as possible to help prevent this from happening to future guests. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and your patience while we investigate the matter. Your feedback is valuable and will help us improve the overall experience for our guests.
Highly recommend this tour, our guide (Melody) was brilliant, she was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable providing great detail about both the places we visited and the history of Iceland. We had plenty of time at each of the stops, which never felt rushed. The itinerary was fantastic, starting with a beautiful drive along Eyjafjörður, followed by the magnificent Goðafoss waterfall. The Laufás Heritage Site was a fascinating look into how Icelanders used to live, and the final viewpoint over Akureyri and a walk around the botanical gardens were the perfect way to end the day. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish!
