Après-midi Tea River Cruise sur la Tamise

We love afternoon tea, and wanted to do tea on the Thames for a while. We had tea at various hotels and department stores over the years and thought that at £87 per head (incl a window table) this should be nice. We were mistake. It was terrible! We spent about 1 hour and 15 minutes on the board. It left late. Our table waitress wasn’t bothered at all. Other people also had to chase their waiters down. One person in our group asked for a hot chocolate rather than tea or coffee and was told that “ this is afternoon tea. You MUST choose between tea or coffee”. The waiter clearly hasn’t had tea anywhere else because hot chocolate is usually also an option. Even at F&M! In the end, he was given a Coke zero “on the house” because they had apparently just give the last hot chocolate to one of the kids on board. First there was none, then it was gone. Terrible. The food was just as bad. Four different kinds of finger sandwiches. Coronation chicken, which was ok. Cream cheese and salmon. But did not taste great. Some strange bean and sweetcorn salad mix. Which was weird. And something else unidentifiable. The little cakes were alright. One plain scone was given per person. They were served with strawberry jam on the side, and something that looked and tasted like half whipped whipping cream. It was definitely not clotted cream and there was no butter. Getting a refill on tea or coffee was a challenge because staff were standing around chatting. Refills on any of the foods were declined. That being said, most tables didn’t even finish their food because it was not good. At £87 per head this is probably the most disappointing afternoon tea experience in London. It’s very much a tourist trap. Poor service, poor food. It’s probably alright if you don’t have a clue what a proper afternoon tea is supposed to be like. If you had a decent afternoon tea before, you wouldn’t want this! I would absolutely not recommend it.

The high tea cruise was nice. I do feel like it was expensive for a one and a half hr cruise. The pastries were somewhat good but the small sandwiches had next to no flavor. Tea was good but you can’t mess up tea. If you want to say you did the high tea then go buy know it’s not really worth the money.

This was a lovely way to see London in 90 minutes. The tour was entertaining, low impact and very accommodating. It was a great way to “do” London without any stress and see the sights in one go. It was my first time to London, and we now have our activities for next time. Lovely crew, lovely tea, lovely afternoon.

Very nice tour. Food and tea were excellent, and we learned about London City and The River Thames while we were enjoying ourselves.

The guide was excellent and we hade a wonderful time on the river. The afternoon Tea was delicious.

If you are a picky eater, don’t get your hopes up about the food selections, and if you want to see more, take a bus tour instead.

The “tea” part was good. The food was very good and the service was friendly. We could easily get refills on our pot of tea and the food portions or plentiful. We were disappointed in “tour” part. The commentary only highlighted a few of the sites along the way with little history. Much of the cruise was in silence.

It was wonderful experience. While we enjoy the English afternoon tea on river cruise, a guide explain the history of all the significant structure in both side of thames river.
