Le monastère d'Agios (Saint) Nektarios est le monument religieux le plus important d'Égine, situé à 6 km du centre de la ville d'Égine. Le monastère a été fondé par l'évêque de Pentapolis Nektarios vers la période 1904-1910, à la demande de plusieurs religieuses. L'évêque Nektarios s'installe à Égine en 1908, mais le monastère fonctionne à nouveau en 1904 sous sa direction alors qu'il reste à l'école Rizarios. Il a vécu dans le monastère pendant 13 ans et il a été enterré sous un platane devant l'église du monastère.
Le temple d'Aphaïa ou d'Aféa est un temple grec antique situé dans un complexe de sanctuaire dédié à la déesse Aphaïa sur l'île d'Égine, qui se trouve dans le golfe Saronique.

Ville Village Égine: La ville d'Égine est la capitale et le port principal de l'île. C'est une charmante petite ville, avec de beaux bâtiments néoclassiques de différentes couleurs vives, des rues étroites, des cafés pittoresques, de belles places et un joli port où s'amarrent de minuscules bateaux de pêche colorés. Toute la ville est une explosion de couleurs, accentuée par les pistaches colorées vendues partout. Beaucoup de restaurants pour profiter de votre déjeuner pendant le temps libre.

The tour was lovely and easier to navigate than expected. Meet-up instructions were clear and once we got to Aegina the bus was well-suited, if a little tight, and the a/c was pumping :) Our guide, Maria, shared lots of details about the island, its history and current economy. We also learned about the rich religious history that helped populate the island. And of course there were the pistachios -- the icing on the cake! Maria was extremely accommodating, even helping those who wanted to return on an earlier ferry exchange tickets and staying back on the island with those who did not. This trip was just the right amount of time -- not too early and allowed us to enjoy our evening back in Athens.

We were looking for an opportunity to visit the coast during our trip to Athens. The Aegina island small group day trip was perfect. The tickets were easy to purchase in advance through Trip Advisor, we took the metro from Monastiraki Station to Piraeus Station and then a short walk to a convenient meeting place at the 5 Star Cafe, where we met our guide Maria. Maria was well organized and explained the logistics of our tour very clearly, so we felt very comfortable knowing what to expect. On the tour Maria provided interesting and useful information. Our tour shuttle was comfortable, had air conditioning, easily accommodated our group of 13 adults. Maria guided us all the way, and provided further assistance for our return after the tour, from the ferry port to get back to our hotel.

It was nice to get out of Athens for the day and see a different island. The ruins were amazing (they are in really good condition, compared to others). The beach is wonderful and the pistachio tasting at the end was delicious! We loved Maria!
