Really interesting half-day tour, with lots of historical and otherwise relevant information, definitely worth it!
Excellent experience! Saba was a fantastic guide and I was able to get all the pictures I was after. Really a wonderful experience. Highly recommend.
I took the abandoned Soviet-era spas of Tskaltubo tour from Kutaisi with Giorgi R. as guide and Jaba as driver. Giorgi made this tour exceptional. The history he shared wasn't scripted; it flowed with our conversation, embedding historical facts and perspectives directly into the places we were standing in. As a photographer, I was keen to explore the abandoned sanatoriums visually, but I was also keen to understand them: what they were, how they came to be, what happened to them, what they mean now. I had a lot of questions, some directly related, some tangential, and Giorgi treated every one of them as part of an ongoing conversation rather than an interruption. He was patient, thoughtful, and clearly deeply knowledgeable about both Tskaltubo and the wider region. Highly recommend this tour and this guide.
Super nice experience! I did this tour alone, there were two other guys on the tour. Our guide Lasha was very friendly and told very interesting stories. Without his stories, the experience would have been much less interesting. We came to special abandoned places and heard about the history of Georgia, Stalin, but also what Georgians are like, it gave me a lot of insight into the country and its people. Being able to take beautiful pictures. I can definitely recommend this tour and guide!
It’s very interesting. You’ll learn a lot about history and current affairs. The sanatoria are amazing to see - so much architectural detail now crumbling. Our guide was excellent. He answered all our questions and never preached.
Our guide was informative, all the way! He went beyond what one would usually expect of a guide. We learnt so much! He dud not rush us, and showed us a lot of hidden gems!
This tour is full of history very interesting my tourguikd George was brilliant very informative. about what happen the the Sovat era here
We loved this tour and it is one of the highlights of our whole 2 week trip across Georgia! It was so interesting exploring so many derelict places and hearing about the Soviet history. Coming from Australia, we are never permitted to freely visit places that are falling apart like this - so it felt very different for us. Our guide Giorgi R was superb, he gave us so much valuable information, answered all our questions, and we felt very well looked after throughout the tour. You do have to be sensible exploring these places as there are big drops and broken glass etc - wear good footwear and be aware of your surroundings while taking photos! This tour was creepy, eerie and mysterious in all the best ways possible. Highly recommend not missing out on this unique opportunity!
We happened to be traveling with Saba two days in a row and it was fantastic. We learned a lot about Georgia's past and Saba also has a lot of great tips for Kutaisi. We would definitely book the tour again. The sanatoriums were oppressive but super interesting to see, especially with the background information. The tour is highly recommended!
I had a great experience with Budget Georgia and the guide Toko. He is very professional, kind and funny. But what I appreciated more is the respect he shows to his group and the genuine love towards his country. Thanks a lot for everything we learnt about this haunted place, a unique testimony of the USSR past of the country
