Une journée au Pont du Gard, Nîmes et Orange

⚠️ Nouveau véhicule à partir de Mars 2026 ! Bonjour cher visiteur, je m’appelle Arnaud et serai votre guide natif de cette magnifique Provence. Parmi les 5 circuits que je propose, je vous emmène aujourd’hui aux monuments romains du Pont du Gard, de Nîmes et d’Orange. Le circuit débutera à Nîmes par un arrêt rapide devant la Maison Carrée, ancien temple romain, avant d’effectuer la visite audioguidée des Arènes de Nîmes. NB : de Novembre à Mars, seule une balade dans la vieille ville de Nîmes sera effectuée, pour y voir les principaux monuments. Nous nous arrêterons ensuite au Pont du Gard, pour un pique-nique de produits locaux issus de fermes locales (d’Avril à Octobre uniquement), puis pour balader autour du Pont du Gard pour de superbes vues sur ce monument. Enfin, nous nous dirigerons vers Orange pour un arrêt à l’Arc de Triomphe et une visite audioguidée du majestueux Théâtre Antique. NB : de Novembre à Mars, le circuit sera effectué en sens inverse.

Itinéraire
Après 45 minutes de route depuis Avignon, photo stop devant la Maison Carrée de Nîmes, ancien temple romain dédié aux petits-fils de l’Empereur Auguste. Puis 15 minutes de marche jusqu’aux arènes de Nîmes.
Visite audioguidée des splendides arènes de Nîmes construites autour de 100 après JC sur le modèle du Colisée de Rome. Puis 15 minutes de marche pour récupérer la voiture et environ 30 minutes de route jusqu’au Pont du Gard. NB : la visite des Arènes n’est pas incluse entre Novembre et Mars. Durant cette période, nous baladerons uniquement dans la ville pour observer les principaux monuments de la ville.
Après un pique-nique d’une heure avec vue sur le Pont du Gard (uniquement d’Avril à Octobre), promenade autour du magnifique et imposant Pont du Gard qui faisait partie d’un aqueduc romain de 52 kilomètres de long pour approvisionner Nîmes en eau. Il fut construit autour des années 50 après JC. Puis 30 minutes de route jusqu’à Orange.
Photo stop à l’Arc de Triomphe d’Orange avec écoute des audios retraçant l’histoire du monument. Puis 10 minutes de route jusqu’au Théâtre Antique.
Visite audioguidée du majestueux théâtre antique construit autour de 20 avant JC. Puis environ 30 minutes de route pour retourner jusqu’au point de départ à Avignon.

Very nice trip. Pont Du Gard was the highlight but Nimes and Orange are also good. Arnaud was very helpful.

Great guide. Well planned day that covered a lot. Loved the Pont du Gard and Orange Theatre best. Authentic lunch but a bit light. Bit squashed with 6 people plus Arlo the guide in the car on a hot day. Overall enjoyed the day. Good value.

Very personalized tour of only 3 guests. The tour guide was very interested in making the tour as enjoyable as possible. The picnic lunch was a pleasant addition to the trip to Pont du Gard. The locations visited were amazing and informative. Loved the tour!
This tour offered some of the best of the best Roman antiquities with the bonus of Provence views! We thought Arnaud laid out the itinerary for Orange, Nîmes and the Pont du Gard perfectly. We could not have accomplished these logistic ourselves nor enjoyed his history lessons along the way. The Arch, Theatres and Amphitheatres were all quite amazing to see. The 2000 year old La Maison Carrée was beautiful. Our lovely picnic at Pont du Gard was lovely and so "Very French"!! Highly recommended.

The sights were worth seeing but the mode of transport was limited and not comfortable. A fairly small car with 6 people and we were stuck in the back with no leg or feet room or much air circulation.
Hello, Thank you for your review and for noticing that I am alone in the company and I have built this business from scratch without any financial aid from the French and European organizations. So you understand why I couldnt’ buy a bus or a van after only 1 year of work. But thanks to your help, I will try to buy something bigger in 1 year or 2, except if the goal of your review is to block people to book my tour and to avoid me to live decently. Anyway, this is not a small car (maybe for your country but here in France we don’t consider it as a small car but a 7-seat car for families). For air circulation in the car, there is something called « window », and guess what, it’s possible to open it! And it’s also possible to ask for more air conditioning. I’ve never bite someone who asked for more air… I mean, not yet! However, you said that the sights were interesting. You should have talked about it instead of developing the negative things (according to what you think but it’s subjective and it’s not what the majority of my clients think). Regards.
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with our amazing guide, Arnaud. This tour included all the places on our "must see" list. The added bonus was the lovely picnic lunch with all locally sourced foods. I highly recommend his tours!!
