You described offshore trolling pretty well—there can be stretches of anticipation followed by a lot of excitement when that line goes off! With a shared charter, the goal is to give everyone an opportunity, but unfortunately we can't control which fish bite or how many opportunities we'll get on any particular day. We're glad the crew worked hard to find the fish and that several were landed. We're also happy you enjoyed having your catch filleted and then prepared at a local restaurant. Fresh fish that you caught yourself is pretty hard to beat! We do want to address the fuel surcharge because we certainly don't want anyone to feel that we're being "sneaky." Fuel surcharges are common in the charter industry due to the significant and fluctuating cost of marine fuel. The charge is disclosed as part of the booking information, although we understand that depending on the booking platform and how the information is displayed, it may not always be as noticeable as we'd like. For experienced anglers looking for more control over how and where they fish, we'd also recommend considering one of our Private Offshore Fishing Charters next time. A private trip allows the captain to tailor the day specifically to your group rather than balancing the experience among everyone on a shared charter.
