Genuine outback experience with quality guided.

This is a genuine outback experience that connects you with nature and the aboriginal culture. A highlight for us was the access to aboriginal paintings. This tour is physically challenging with most days involving trekking to spectacular swimming fountains. There is an expectation that all participants contribute to preparing meals and cleaning up. Our guide Tom was excellent with a genuine understanding of local floral and fauna. He was also flexible with regards to our itinerary allowing us to see highlights not listed on the itinerary. Accommodation was Spartan but comfortable and the 4WD bus fit for purpose. The AC broke down and the company replaced it ASAP. Overall the quality of the experience is closely linked to the quality of the guide and Tom was to quality. Overall we loved the experience. Thanks to Tom and Autopia Tours

Excellent trip with great guide and good companions

Cracking trip with a thoroughly likeable mixed international group. Alex the guide super efficient, friendly and enthusiastic with particularly god knowledge of Aboriginal issues. Great programme with decent food and high quality tented accommodation. Only doubt from us was the final day’s four visits to swimming water holes - enough already!

Hard to justify the cost

If you're looking for a tour that focuses on visiting the major tourist photo spots, this may suit you. However, I don't feel this 5 day tour delivered value for the price. While Kakadu, Katherine and Litchfield are spectacular destinations, much of what we experienced could have been achieved independently for less money. Communication was quite inconsistent. Before Day 2, I asked what time we needed to be up and what the plan was for the following morning, only to be told by the guide, "I haven't decided when we're leaving yet." After long days of hiking, guests need to know the following day's departure time so they can shower, prepare their gear and get to bed early before another full day. When asked about locations listed on the itinerary, we were initially told to "ignore the itinerary," which wasn't particularly reassuring. The itinerary that we followed could have been planned more efficiently. We repeated long drives over Days 2 and 3, and it wasn't clear why the waterfalls were not combined into the same day to reduce time spent in the vehicle. Several people in our group expressed interest in spending time at cultural centres, yet there was no discussion about alternative options or priorities thus we didn't visit the Aboriginal Art Gallery in Katherine or the Bowali Visitor Centre. The pace of the tour meant there was very little time to actually enjoy the scenery. Most walks felt rushed and every activity felt like a time crunch, leaving little opportunity to stop, take in the surroundings or explore at your own pace. One of my biggest disappointments was the lack of genuine Indigenous engagement. Although we visited the Warradjan Cultural Centre, we spent exactly 30 minutes there. This was the only stop on the entire tour where visitors could directly support local Indigenous artists and businesses by purchasing locally made products. There were also free Indigenous-led experiences available that weren't incorporated into the itinerary, including: * Nawurlandja Sunset Walk (https://parksaustralia.gov.au/kakadu/do/walks/nawurlandja-sunset-walk/) * Kunmadj – Learn the Art of Weaving at Bowali Visitor Centre (https://parksaustralia.gov.au/kakadu/do/kunmadj-learn-the-art-of-weaving/) The guide wasn't even aware the Nawurlandja Sunset Walk was taking place while we were in the area. Instead of providing opportunities to learn directly from Traditional Owners, Indigenous stories were generally interpreted by the guide. Given that this company is operating in the NT, I expected stronger partnerships with local Indigenous communities. Most of the guides commentary repeated what was already written on the signs along the walking tracks and we received almost no explanation of the geology of the landscapes we were visiting. By the end of five days the itinerary was quite samey. The food was another area where value didn't match the price with most meals basic, budget-orientated and prepared by the guests. Considering there is a bar and bistro at the Jabiru campsite, it seems like a missed opportunity not to have an arrangement where guests enjoy these meals as included in the price after full days of hiking. There was also unnecessary food waste, with leftovers being thrown away. Our guide appeared extremely fatigued throughout the trip. We were told he had two days off between running the same five-day tour. He started enthusiastic but became increasingly disengaged. Communication could be abrupt, steep walks weren't consistently explained beforehand, and on one occasion members of the group walked in the wrong direction without being corrected, only to later be criticised for holding everyone up. Reading previous reviews, it appears there were previously two guides on this tour - unsure why this is no longer the case. There is far too much driving for one person while also organising meals, setting up camp, and managing guests throughout the day. This raises genuine health and safety concerns. Wildlife sightings were also limited - appreciate this is largely outside the tour operator's control. However, most sites visited were heavily impacted by bushfires or were very popular tourist locations, so it would have been nice if the itinerary had included other areas where wildlife sightings may have been more likely.

Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback. We sincerely appreciate your honesty and the time you took to provide us with this valuable insight. We regret that the tour did not fully meet your expectations and acknowledge the areas where we fell short, including communication, itinerary planning, Indigenous engagement, and overall value. Your comments about the pacing, the opportunity to connect with local Indigenous communities, and the overall experience are incredibly helpful as we strive to improve. We take safety and guest experience very seriously, and your concerns about the guide's fatigue and the logistics of the tour are noted. We are committed to making necessary adjustments to ensure a more engaging, respectful, and well-organized experience in the future. Your suggestions regarding itinerary improvements, Indigenous partnerships, and meal arrangements are especially valuable. We aim to create authentic and meaningful experiences that support local communities and enhance our guests' understanding of the region. Please accept our apologies for any disappointment caused. We truly appreciate your constructive criticism and hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future.

Top End magic, campfire laughs, and an unexpected termite education

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Top End magic, campfire laughs, and an unexpected termite education This trip was genuinely incredible. Big wild landscapes, beautiful swimming spots, epic rock art, and the kind of sunsets that make you stop mid-conversation just to take it all in. Tim was a fantastic guide. Funny, relaxed, endlessly knowledgeable, and somehow able to make termites one of the most entertaining topics of the entire trip. It became a running joke, but by the end we were all weirdly fascinated by termite mounds. The Aboriginal rock art was probably the highlight for me. Seeing artwork that's survived for thousands of years was pretty humbling. The billabongs and waterfalls were just as impressive, and swimming in those spots after a walk was hard to beat. The food was fresh, healthy and genuinely delicious. Dinners around the table were a great way to unwind, then we'd end the day with drinks around the campfire, sharing stories under an incredible night sky. The group was also a huge part of what made the trip so enjoyable. Everyone pitched in, helped each other out, and created a really easy, friendly atmosphere. If you're thinking about seeing the Top End, do it. You'll come home with amazing memories, a camera full of ridiculous scenery, and, thanks to Tim, an alarming amount of termite knowledge. I wouldn't change a thing.

This trip was absolutely incredible and I cannot recommend it enough. Our guides, Leigh and Sanna, were equally amazing.

I took part in the 5-Day tour to Kakadu, Katherine,Nitmiluk and Litchfield National Park. Our group had a fantastic time all throughout the trip. This was just as much due to the incredible scenery as it was to our two guides’ (Leigh & Sanna) perfect organisation, personalities and knowledge about the region’s nature, history, geology, culture and society. Leigh and Sanna managed to keep us entertained the entire time, while also sharing their expertise with us and of course organising the itinerary. The camps were also amazing and I was surprised by how comfortable they were despite being pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The food also surpassed expectations, as our guides managed to prepare delicious and healthy meals that go beyond the standard sandwiches and musli bars. So overall, this experience has been absolutely worth every cent and I genuinely cannot recommend it enough!!

Fantastic tour

We have just come back from a 5 day Kakadu-Katherine-Litchfield tour. What a fantastic trip it was! The program was intense. Every day was packed with sightseeing, walking, swimming and other activities. We have seen many amazing places. We stayed in two camps. The first one had a resort style swimming pool and a bar. The second camp was based on a private property in a secluded area. Only our small group was there. We had a camp fire for two nights, listened to the sounds of the wilderness and watched the stars. It was absolutely awesome! Very unique experience! What made this tour especially memorable was our tour guide Charlotte. With many years of tour guide experience both in Australia and overseas she made sure that everything was organised absolutely perfectly. We managed to see all the planned sights and even more. Her organisational skills were outstanding. She also provided a lot of information about the history and geology of NT and the areas we visited. Her knowledge of local flora and fauna was exceptional. Her love of the land and passion were infectious. We had a GREAT time. Highly recommended thus tour.
