Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry the trip did not meet your expectations. Shared fishing charters are designed so multiple guests rotate through rods throughout the trip, especially when conditions are slow or fish are not actively biting. Unfortunately, the weather front that moved through the day before made for very tough fishing conditions across much of the fleet that day, which the crew did explain onboard. As for rescheduling, weather in Key West can change quickly, and while fishing may slow after a front, many trips the following day can still produce great catches. If we canceled or rescheduled every time conditions looked less than ideal, many guests would lose opportunities to get out on the water altogether. Regarding the return trip, we did experience a mechanical issue on the way back, and we apologize for the delay getting to shore. While frustrating, safety is always our top priority, and the captain made the proper decision to bring everyone back safely rather than rush the vessel. We do appreciate your comments about the crew. Our captains and mates work extremely hard to make the best of difficult conditions and give guests the best experience possible, even on slower fishing days.

We’re sorry to hear this trip didn’t meet your expectations. We do want to clarify a few points so future guests have an accurate picture. Both the captain and mate on your trip are experienced crew members. While it may have been one of their first trips working together as a team, neither of them are new to fishing or guiding. They worked hard throughout the trip and did put clients on fish, although we understand it wasn’t the target species you were hoping for. Fishing conditions can vary day to day, and unfortunately this particular day was a slower one across the area. Mahi-mahi tend to be farther offshore this time of year, and on a 4-hour shared charter, time and range are limited compared to longer private trips. The very next day saw much stronger results, which speaks to how quickly conditions can change. We always try to be upfront that fishing is never guaranteed, especially on shorter shared trips where we are balancing the goals of the entire group. For guests looking to target specific species like mahi, a longer private charter (6+ hours) gives a much better opportunity. That said, we do take feedback seriously and will continue working with our crew on communication so expectations are clear on every trip. We’re sorry this happened to fall on your day. If you ever decide to give us another shot, we’d be glad to help guide you toward the best trip option for what you’re looking to do.. as you can see from our other reviews, we do provide a great experience and once again we’re very sorry that your trip did not meet your expectations.
