Lors de cette promenade dans le quartier, nous explorerons la diversité culinaire presque hallucinante de la région tout en découvrant l’histoire fascinante de Flushing. Nous visiterons les vendeurs, les stands extérieurs des restaurants locaux et certains des aires de restauration du centre commercial de Flushing – considérés par les habitants comme ayant certains des meilleurs repas de la région – en dégustant des spécialités de Chine, de Corée, du Vietnam et d’autres pays. Des étals de vente de dim sum et de snacks à la hongkongaise aux boulangeries où les pâtisseries Coréennes s’attaquent aux pâtisseries Françaises et à la visite d’un fabricant de kimchi local, nous plongerons dans ce que le quartier a de mieux à offrir. Lors de notre visite gastronomique de Flushing, nous jetterons un coup d’œil à certains des marqueurs culturels uniques de la région, d’un temple daoïste de devanture à la Flushing Quaker Meeting House, construite en 1694 – un témoignage du rôle important que la région, à l’origine une colonie Néerlandaise, a joué dans l’histoire de New York.

This is by far the best food tour I have ever been on. Our guide, Sierra was incredibly nice and so knowledgeable. I like that they keep the groups small and that the tour isn't just about food, but about the neighborhood and it's history as well. We had an amazing time. Thank you Sierra! The tour of Flushing's Chinatown exceeded my expectations. I went with a friend from California who had been on 2 Culinary Backstreets tours and suggested we take a New York tour. As a long time NYC resident I had been to Flushing numerous times but this tour took us to places I didn't know existed. Our guide Sierra was delightful, incredibly knowledgeable about the food we were eating and the history of Flushing. The itinerary was well thought out and we got to try so many delicious dishes. I'm traveling to LA in September and plan on taking one of Culinary Backstreets tours there.

We explored the tremendous culinary diversity of China in a relatively small area of downtown Flushing with our incredibly knowledgeable guide, Sierra. We sampled so many delicious items that we had no idea existed. Sierra made sure we paced ourselves so as to not to feel ill. Sierra has an extensive culinary background so we learned about Chinese items, food culture and the neighborhood history.

We had a wonderful tour with Sierra last week. They were filled with knowledge enthusiasm and passion about everything we saw— from the different varieties and cross cultural evolution of the egg tart to how the colors of clothing and the amount of landscaping in the post office murals of early Queens settlements can tell you more than you even imagined about the history and sociology of the borough. Oh, and the food — consistneky delish and often surprising — who knew that plain boiled fish dumplings could be so tasty!

Sierra was a great guide! We visited multiple food halls, stopped for snacks at "magic windows" (bao, dumplings, roasted sweet potato, New York version of Macao version of pastel de nata, ..), and also got a bit of history and culture. Who knew that the Flushing post office had WPA murals?
