Les magnifiques paysages de la zone panoramique de la forêt de pierre ont été classés au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 2007. Cette attraction jouit d'une grande réputation, tant en Chine qu'à l'étranger. Le parc de la forêt de pierre du Yunnan, à quelque 90 km à l'est de Kunming, est un haut lieu touristique très populaire. En raison de la taille gigantesque du parc, il est néanmoins encore possible de trouver des zones moins visitées et éloignées, surtout pendant les mois d'hiver ensoleillés. Trouvez votre propre chemin à travers le dédale d'énormes piliers de pierre!Ensuite, visitez la région pittoresque de Jiuxiang, située dans le canton autonome de Jiuxiang Yi et Hui du comté de Yiliang, à 45 minutes en voiture de la forêt de pierre. Il est célèbre pour ses grottes karstiques (une centaine au total, dont plus de 60 sont explorées), ses montagnes, ses rivières, ses vallées profondes ainsi que ses coutumes et cultures minoritaires. Cette visite comprend pas mal d'escaliers. Pour la sécurité et le confort, il peut ne pas convenir aux jeunes enfants ou aux voyageurs d'âge avancé.

Itinéraire
1,5 heure de voiture pour rejoindre l'une des plus grandes merveilles du Yunnan, la forêt de pierre dans le comté de Shilin. Le temps et les intempéries ont sculpté un labyrinthe karstique massif qui donne l'impression de se promener dans une forêt, avec des arbres en pierre centenaires qui vous regardent de haut. Chaque formation rocheuse que vous croisez a sa propre histoire touchante ou légende palpitante, transmise par les autochtones qui vivent dans cette région depuis des lustres. Les indigènes appartiennent à la minorité Sani, une branche de la minorité ethnique Yi, que vous pouvez encore trouver à l'intérieur du parc, en jammant ensemble des chants folkloriques ou en faisant des broderies.
Plus tard, nous verrons une autre œuvre d’art réalisée par la nature, les grottes de Jiuxiang, qui font partie du plus grand système de grottes de Chine, avec des rivières, des gorges, des cascades, des forêts, des ponts en pierre naturelle, et tout ce que vous imaginez trouver dans un pays de fées. Entrez dans les grottes par l'étroit canyon vert et voyez l'entrée des grottes cachées à l'intérieur des forêts d'en haut que vous survolez dans le téléphérique.Le chauffeur vous ramène au centre-ville de Kunming après (environ 1,5 heures) et vous dépose à nouveau à votre hôtel.

We went on a one day tour from Kunming to see the stone forest and the caves, incredible sights to see. I can highly recommend it. I contacted Katherine a couple of weeks before to ask if she could organise a driver for us for the day. We started on email first and switched to we chat. She was super helpful and so professional. Always very quick to respond and very accomodating. Thumbs up!! I can highly recommend her if you would like to book anything in Yunnan. Everything was detailed beforehand. Pick up from hotel etc. You can plan individually. We had a driver called Hao. He was very very friendly and helpful telling us exactly how to get the tickets. You can decide how long you want to stay at each place. Probably better to allow quite a bit of time for the stone forest as the area is huge.

The natural wonders were incredible but our guide was really supportive of our enjoyment, taking us through quite areas where we could appreciate the stones without the noise and hub bub of the mass of photographers. Authentic place for lunch serving plentiful amounts of tasty local food. Was a great day out
