This day tour from Zhengzhou was perfectly organized. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable about both Shaolin Temple and the Longmen Grottoes, bringing the rich history to life with engaging stories. The private vehicle was clean and comfortable, making the transfers between sites very smooth. Watching the Kung Fu performance at Shaolin was definitely a highlight, showcasing amazing skill and discipline. The vegetarian lunch recommended was surprisingly delicious and authentic. I really appreciated how the guide managed the timing, allowing us to see everything at a relaxed pace. It was a seamless cultural experience, and I highly recommend this itinerary to anyone visiting Henan.
I booked two private tour days with Spring for August 2025. As I was overwhelmed with the planning, I sent many emails with lots of questions to Spring and he was really patient explaining and suggesting my options. I'm a fast sightseer and wanted to visit many attractions! After a few months of discussing the itinerary (I was indecisive), I booked! Spring is very friendly, helpful and patient. He also drives and drives safely, his car is clean and he was always on time. Spring organized my attraction tickets and took many photos for me, of me. As a solo traveler, this was extremely wonderful service - it was hard to use the selfie stick in crowded areas so having someone take photos of you, for you, was really awesome! Longmen Grottoes is a must visit but be prepared for the crowds! I also loved Zhongyue Temple, Shaolin Temple, and watching the Shaolin Zen Music Ritual show - luckily it rained after the show had finished! I highly recommend booking your tours with Spring. He took me around Luoyang and Dengfeng. I hope to return to China and have Spring take me around Jinan, Tai'an, Taishan, Qufu, Kaifeng, and Zhengzhou. Henan province is one of my favorite provinces and I look forward to revisiting and exploring further - in detail, and with Spring! If you need an English-speaking guide who can also drive, then contact Spring. Email him: 454087616@qq.com or send message: WhatsApp / Wechat ID: +8618237137593 My apologizes for the very, very late review. I moved houses, changed jobs and life just gets in the way... I can reassure anyone who's reading this that Spring is an excellent tour guide - as per all the other reviews here! In fact, I found Spring on this forum to begin with! I can also now confirm that all the other reviews are legit, genuine, honest. Thanks for the recommendation, TripAdvisor forum! I'm very grateful for this community.
A great experience. Spring was a courteous, humorous and knowledgeable guide, who kept the day on schedule without ever making us feel rushed, and was happy to answer any questions we had. The monastery grounds, pagoda forest and Longmen Grottoes were all fantastic to see, and it was a great experience to escape the urban sprawl of the city and see a different side of China. Thanks!
Spring was very well organised. The entire experience was smooth, from the drive there to the tour itself and back. Highly recommend.
My boss used Spring’s services to organize a 10-day tour from Kaifeng to Chengde, and the experience was exceptional. Spring handled everything, including our train tickets and luggage transfers, with great care. He even went above and beyond by providing us with written instructions in Chinese to ensure we received assistance at the train station when we were almost late. He also provided a great vehicle at a very reasonable price. Excellent, highly communicative, and truly superb service. Thank you, Spring, for all your help!
We had an amazing time at the Shaolin Temple and the Longmen Grottoes. Spring made the experience a smooth one. He is a very knowledgeable tour guide.
We had a great great time. Process was smooth and Spring got us great seats at the Shoilin show. He took care of us. I fully endorse him.
joined a full-day Luoyang private tour with a guide named Spring on 7 October 2025, and it was one of the best guided experiences I’ve had in China. Spring is fluent in English, knowledgeable about Chinese art, Buddhist history, and dynastic culture, and very organized. He arranged comfortable transportation and guided me through Longmen Grottoes, White Horse Temple, and Shaolin Temple. His explanations about the sculptural differences across dynasties and the evolution of Buddhist art were fascinating. Everything was perfectly planned — from timing and transport to insightful commentary. Spring made the tour both smooth and intellectually enriching. I highly recommend Spring to anyone looking for an English-speaking private tour guide in Luoyang who can explain the cultural and artistic details behind these UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Our tour of the Longmen Grottos and Shaolin Temple was fantastic. Spring was knowledgeable and considerate. He spoke very good English and provided much information about the sites we visited. His knowledge of Chinese history is really good! He contacted us well in advance about pick up time and was organised throughout the trip. If you need an English tour, Spring is highly recommended!
Spring is an awesome guide and the itinerary was perfect. He arrived promptly at 8am at my hotel in Zhengzhou. We first headed to Shaolin. The drive through the mountains was beautiful. The weather was perfect. I visited in September at the start of Fall but before the nationwide Mid-autumn festival. It is an extraordinarily beautiful scenic region. We had hoped to catch one of the morning martial arts demonstrations but there was an unexpectedly large crowd and Spring suggested we wait for the afternoon session instead, so we toured the temple complex with a break for lunch and a leisurely shopping session. Spring was very knowledgable about the history and the myths surrounding the temple, the statues and the buildings. We then made our way to the Kung Fu demonstration. Spring knew all the best vantage points which made it easy to enjoy the experience. Next we drove to the Longmen grottoes. It was another gorgeous drive. The town of Luoyang is very pretty too. We took the trolley from the ticket offices to the grottoes and back, but the grottoes themselves have to be experienced on foot, with a lot of climbing. The grottoes were magnificent. Spring explained the history and politics behind the creation of the caves and carvings. He showed me pictures of renderings made by conservators, on his phone. He is a fount of information on every detail of the caves and carvings. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and climbing. Wear comfortable shoes. The lunch at Shaolin was one of the most delicious meals I have eaten in China and it was unbelievably cheap. Spring was very helpful when my phone didn't have a connection and I couldn't pay for things, he used his phone to pay for things and I paid him when we returned to town. His English is great and he helped translate for me at the shops, the restaurant and the trolley drivers. I cannot recommend Spring enough!
