This tour was incredibly well-organized! All the stops along the way were great, and everything ran perfectly on time. The absolute highlight of the trip was Zeus Cave. Just a heads-up for future travelers: you do need to be in relatively good physical shape for this part! Walking up the hill to the entrance and then navigating the steps down into the cave (and back up) is quite a workout. It took me about 1 hour and 10 minutes in total, but it was absolutely impressive and worth every bit of effort. Highly recommend this tour!
While Crete is beautiful and our guide was great fun, on our six hour excursion we did not get to do most of the itinerary: 1) We stopped at the olive oil factory. 2) We did not stop at the Panagias Keras church. 3) We drove thru Kritsa without the stop. 4/5) We stopped for pictures at Katharo/Lassithi plateau. 6) We visited the Cave of Zeus (be warned, there is no exhibition, no presentation, no signage or anything else at the cave. You walk up the hill, pay 15€ to walk 200 steps down into the cave, walk back out, you're done). 6a) We had a great lunch at a pleasant taverna near the Cave. 7) We drove past the windmills with no stop. 8) We drove thru Malia. 9) We did not visit the Selinari Monastery. 10) We did not visit Krasi or see the Platanus Tree. While we had a nice time on the tour, that was mostly due to the guide and the scenery. I think the promised itinerary is too much for the time everything takes.
We understand that you are unhappy. But there is a reason for your special "reduced tour": You arrived by a cruise ship and we had to bring you back in time (very early) to not miss your Ship. In addition there are crazy roadworks going on in Crete as Government build all highway new. They close the road whenever they want to detonate near the road. Its unpredictable. If we have time, we can easily go another longer road and take our time and show all. As you say, you had 6 hours instead of 7 or 8 hours. But you needed to be back in the middle of the afternoon that you dont miss your connection (what we completely understand), we try to show you the best in this short time. And Yes, Cave of Zeus is not a exhibition. Its a cultural and mythologic site, since thousands of years. The cost of 15 Euros goes to government (and is also mentioned on our description when you booked the tour.) If you want an exhibition, go to a museum, we have some nice places here. Thanks a lot you liked the food at our taverna and our guide and that the tour was great fun.
I loved that you get to visit so many things in a day. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and welcoming.
Thank you so much for your review. we try to do our best
We did this tour with Costa, and it was simply beautiful. We learned a lot about the island, olive cultivation, and its history. Costa is a great guide. We can only recommend Crete Adventure, and we went on two more tours with them later on.
Perfekte Review haben wir von Ihnen ja auch bekommen, vielen Dank dafür und Ihre Buchungen natürlich auch
My new husband and I booked this jeep group to be wedding cars for us, for our wedding. Armin was very helpful with arrangements and all the drivers were very friendly and happy to be helping us on the day. Michael was my driver on the wedding day, he was lovely! All the Guests were thrilled to be riding around Elounda in jeeps with wedding ribbons, beeping horns and bumping up hills to arrive at the wedding venue. It was fabulous! Us and some friends also booked a tour a few days later, and by coincidence, Michael was our driver again! He was very happy to see us. During the tour to Zeus' Cave, he told us lots of information about olive oil making, native plants, Greek and Cretan traditions, history and mythology. We fed goats up the mountain, had coffee breaks in little villages and lunch at Taxiarhos Traditional Taverna - with Demetruis (Crazy raki drinking chef who loves meeting new people and returning guests alike!) On the way back to our resort, we also stopped at a traditional pottery "makers" (if thats the correct word) and another village with a very old monumental plane tree and 100+ year old aqueduct. It was a great tour, with a great driver :) WHEN we return to Crete (which we will do, very soon!) We will definately use this company again, and I hope we see Michael and Armin again too! <3 xxx
Thanks so much to be our guests. We really enjoyed it a lot to be part of your fantastic, amazing wedding. See you
Brilliant, funny and entertaining tour, lead by Michael. Each stop was just long enough to see everything; we weren’t rushed but we weren’t waiting around either so it was a great balance. Lunch was excellent, a real highlight of the tour.
Thanks for brilliant and fantastic review. by the way: I also like the food there sooo much....
Awesome day, fantastic guide in George couldn’t have done more, enjoyed the stories bud!
and your Super-Feedback at the end. Thanks so much for booking and the Rating.
The food for lunch made up for everything. Zeus cave was closed and we didn’t stop by another stop, even after a traveler asked why we were driving past the church. We unfortunately did not receive what we booked but what we did was great. We mostly just explored on our own and the driver took us places. The vendors were kind and made it all enjoyable. I am really entitled to a partial refund but I don’t feel like the hassle.
I think you was with another company. we stop at a pottery, at the mythology park, at the olive oil tasting, in Kritza for a walk plus many photoshops. we inform also all customers that the cave is still closed and if they want to do another tour are cancel.
I can’t recommend this tour group any higher. We booked at the last minute because we discovered that today was a holiday and everything was closed. Our expectations were low since we booked what was available and figured it was better than doing nothing today. Wow were we blown away with the experience!! First of all, our guide Panos recognized that the itinerary while fantastic was possibly something we had already seen. Therefore, he quickly called his boss and made a pivot to what we were going to do for the day. It was absolutely phenomenal. We saw the countryside, Little villages, an amazing taverna with the most fabulous food, and the coast of this beautiful island. We were able to take pictures and stop at interesting sites. We heard details about Crete and its history. I’m sure had we seen the planned itinerary it would also have been spectacular, but we had traveled much of those roads already so we were very happy to be flexible. I think that above all else is what I appreciate - the experience that Panos had enabled him to understand what we would enjoy doing and then pivot/slightly customize the tour. The food we ate was also to die for. Such a great day!!!
Thanks so much for detailed and good review
