Desde el paseo marítimo de Riva tendremos una introducción de 10 minutos a uno de los monumentos romanos mejor conservados del siglo IV d.C.: un impresionante palacio construido para el emperador romano Diocleciano. Inicialmente, el palacio sirvió como residencia de retiro de lujo del emperador y más tarde, en el siglo VII, se convirtió en la ciudad medieval: la ciudad de Split. Entraremos al Palacio por la puerta sur y exploraremos sus partes principales en los siguientes 90+ minutos.
Desde el paseo marítimo de Riva entraremos al Palacio a través de la Puerta de Bronce y visitaremos los sótanos/subestructuras del palacio de Diocleciano de 1700 años de antigüedad increíblemente conservados. En los sótanos aprenderá sobre la vida de Diocleciano: cómo se convirtió en emperador, cómo gobernó, sobre sus años de gloria y sobre su abdicación y "retiro" final. Hablaremos de la construcción de su Palacio, de su ingenioso concepto arquitectónico y de la piedra preciosa de la isla de Brac que se utilizó para construir el Palacio. Explicaremos por qué la cercana capital romana, Salona, fue tan importante para el desarrollo de la ciudad de Split en el siglo VII y cómo los invasores del norte destruyeron Salona y "ayudaron" a convertir el palacio en la ciudad medieval: Split.
La plaza central del Palacio. Está rodeado de los más diversos estilos arquitectónicos y monumentos desde el egipcio de 3000 años de antigüedad, pasando por la antigua época romana, diferentes estilos medievales (campanario de catedrales, palacios nobles...), hasta los modernos y contemporáneos...
Se trata de un hermoso edificio circular que servía de salón a Diocleciano y era la entrada a los aposentos privados del Emperador. ¡Y a veces tendríamos la oportunidad de disfrutar de increíbles coros dálmatas - "Klape" - cantando aquí!

Visitaremos el gueto judío medieval del siglo XVI. Además, si está interesado en visitarla, aquí en Split hay una tercera sinagoga en funcionamiento más antigua de Europa...
La entrada principal al Palacio. Hablaremos sobre el concepto de la Puerta "trampa de gente", sobre las calles romanas Cardo y Decumanus, y sobre el camino a Salona, la antigua capital romana.
La plaza principal de la ciudad medieval de Split. Alrededor de esta plaza se pueden ver el edificio del Ayuntamiento y muchos otros hermosos palacios.
Vocni trg (Plaza de la Fruta) es la segunda plaza más importante de la Split medieval. Es la antigua plaza del mercado. En el centro de la plaza se encuentra una estatua de Marko Marulic, un destacado poeta y humanista croata del siglo XV, el "padre de la literatura croata".

It's an informative short walking tour, perfect for first visit to Split. We stayed at a hotel in the palace so very convenient. Since we landed early in Split at 7am, it was a good way to stay awake and efficient way to use the day before retiring early to bed.
Enjoyable and interesting. A bit of a wander but enjoyable. Had a good time and my son and daughter in law really enjoyed it. Nice museum of Dalmatian history as well
The guide seemed very disorganized and didn’t seem very interested In doing her job. We were very disappointed in this expensive tour that was one of the worst tours we have experienced. The tour was supposed to be 2 hours but the guide left us after 90 minutes.
This is a fake review. Our company has been operating for more than 25 years and works exclusively with the very best licensed Croatian guides. During this time, over 99.5% of our guests have given our tours excellent ratings. We have never received a rating below “Very Good.” For Ms. Judith’s tour, we assigned one of the most respected, friendliest and most experienced guides in Croatia. Throughout her long and successful career, this guide has consistently been loved by guests and has never received less than a 5-star review. Because of her exceptional professionalism, she is regularly hired by the City of Split and the Ministry of Culture to guide high-level delegations and distinguished visitors. Unfortunately, Ms. Judith arrived to the tour completely disengaged. From the very beginning, she showed no willingness to participate. Each time the guide suggested visiting a landmark, Ms. Judith replied, “I’m not interested. I already saw that yesterday by myself.” After approximately 90 minutes, when the guide attempted to continue with the next part of the tour, the guest refused and said, “I don’t want to continue sightseeing. I want to finish now.” Despite this, Ms. Judith later claimed in her review that the guide ended the tour early of her own decision, which is simply not true. We attempted to contact Ms. Judith after the tour to clarify any misunderstandings, but she did not respond to any of our messages. Unfortunately, we were therefore unable to learn what or who might have motivated her to post such a negative and inaccurate review. We nevertheless wish her all the best and hope she finds something positive to enjoy in the future.
