We had a great tour at a variety of local wineries that each had their own identity and history. What better way to do this tour than with Ken our tour guide who has a passion for history. We had fine wines and were educated about the different microclimates in the Willamette valley. Highly recommend this intimate tour with a professional company.
Having done wine tours in Napa, Healdsburg, Fredericksburg, and even Champagne, we can honestly say our experience with Wine History Tours was one of the most thoughtful and genuinely enjoyable wine tours we’ve done anywhere. Ken Wytsma was an exceptional guide and host. What immediately stood out was that this was not a generic “hop between wineries” experience. The day felt intentionally curated, with each stop offering a distinct personality and perspective on the Willamette Valley wine scene. We visited L’Angolo Estate, Domaine Divio, and Granville Wine Co., and each stop complemented the others perfectly. L’Angolo brought a unique Italian-inspired atmosphere and varietal diversity that made for a memorable start to the day. Domaine Divio showcased a more Burgundian and Old World approach to Oregon Pinot Noir, with elegant, restrained wines that really highlighted the craftsmanship and terroir of the region. Granville Wine Co. provided a relaxed and scenic finish to the day with great hospitality and a fun atmosphere. One thing that became immediately apparent throughout the day was how genuinely connected Ken is within the Willamette Valley wine community. At each winery, the owners, general managers, and hospitality staff clearly knew him personally and greeted him more like a friend than simply another tour guide. That relationship translated into a much more welcoming and authentic experience for us as guests. What really elevated the experience, though, was Ken himself. He brought depth, context, and genuine conversation throughout the tour. He was incredibly easy to talk to—not just about the history of wine and the Willamette Valley, but history in general—and the conversations throughout the day felt natural and engaging rather than scripted. Ken also went above and beyond in ways we genuinely appreciated. At one point I realized I had forgotten my allergy medication at the hotel, and without us even prompting him, he took the initiative to stop and pick some up from a store for us. That kind of thoughtfulness and hospitality says a lot about the kind of person he is and the level of care he brings to the experience. Another unexpected bonus: Ken took fantastic photos for us throughout the day. We joked that it felt like having a professional photographer along on the tour. We came away with some great memories captured in a way we normally never would have thought to do ourselves. Compared to some of the more commercial wine tours we’ve experienced in larger wine regions, this felt intimate, authentic, and deeply connected to the Willamette Valley itself. If you’re looking for a boutique wine experience with a knowledgeable guide, excellent winery selections, and a relaxed pace, we would absolutely recommend Wine History Tours and Ken.
We had an amazing experience with Wine History Tours—Sara made our entire day. She chose three wineries that were exactly the vibe we were going for, each one different but all beautiful, laid-back, and welcoming. We truly felt like we were getting VIP treatment at every stop. Sara was professional, thoughtful, and so easy to spend the day with. She shared interesting insights along the way and was flexible with our schedule, adjusting things when we wanted to stay longer at certain wineries. The wine, cheese boards, views—everything was perfect. It was a girls trip highlight and an experience we never could have created on our own. Highly recommend!
We had the absolute best day with Wine History Tours and can’t recommend them enough! Sara was so amazing—she was friendly, professional, thoughtful, and so much fun to spend the day with. She made us feel completely taken care of and every winery she chose for us was exactly the experience we were looking for. Sara handled all the details so we could relax and we really didn’t have to worry about a thing. If you’re considering a wine tour, I highly recommend Sara and the Wine History Tours!
Ken absolutely made our wine country day unforgettable. From start to finish, everything was seamless. He handled all the scheduling and curated an incredible lineup of wineries that we never would have found on our own. What really set Ken apart was his knowledge and personality. He shared great stories, gave thoughtful background on each winery and region, and struck the perfect balance of being informative without feeling over the top. He’s genuinely down to earth and made the entire experience feel relaxed, fun, and personalized. You can tell he truly knows his stuff and cares about creating a great experience. If you’re looking for a wine tour guide, don’t think twice. Ken is a 10 out of 10. We’d book with him again in a heartbeat.

I highly recommend Wine History Tours. They transformed our wine tasting day into a safe, fun and truly memorable experience. Our driver Sara, picked us up and guided us through some of the best wineries in the willamette valley before returning us home safely. She was incredibly knowledgeable about both the region and its wines, and her friendly, personable nature made the day even more enjoyable. Wine History Tours arranged visits to two exceptional wineries, offered fantastic food recommendations and provided a luxury vehicle with every amenity we could have hoped for. We were celebrating a birthday and they went above and beyond, arriving with flowers and adding thoughtful touches that made the occasion feel extra special all while ensuring we were safe between each location and home. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
What a wonderful day! Wine tasting with friends for a birthday celebration. Sarah was our guide. She was absolutely amazing. We were able to completely relax and enjoy the wines, scenery and friendship without the worry of driving. Highly recommend this company for any wine touring. You won’t be disappointed
We had 2 days in Willamette valley. Ken and Sara were both amazing guides and helped make it a fun filled couple of days. Great tips and assistance with building the itinerary and their connections at the wineries helped amplify the experience. I highly recommend them.
This is our second time with Wine History Tours. Sara was phenomenal. Her knowledge of the area and the wine is outstanding. She's extremely personable. I would highly recommend her and their service. It was good to see Ken at the end of your tour. We will be back!
