Tohora Bora Bora es la empresa pionera en excursiones de avistamiento de ballenas en Bora Bora. Simon comparte su pasión priorizando el respeto por los animales y la calidad de la experiencia. Las ballenas viven en estado salvaje: observarlas es impredecible. La opción de "entrada al agua" no garantiza la posibilidad de nadar. Cuando sea posible, puede requerir nadar más de 100 metros en mar abierto. Es fundamental estar en buena forma física y sentirse muy cómodo en el agua. La excursión dura 3 horas y 30 minutos en el mar, donde las condiciones pueden ser adversas. El despliegue de ballenas depende exclusivamente del comportamiento de los cetáceos y de las condiciones del mar. La seguridad y el respeto a esta especie protegida siguen siendo nuestra prioridad. Quienes no deseen meterse en el agua podrán disfrutar plenamente de la observación desde la embarcación. Es precisamente esta autenticidad la que hace que cada encuentro sea excepcional.

La temporada de ballenas jorobadas se extiende desde donde vienen para dar a luz y reproducirse. Este tour está liderado por un guía y capitán.

Lugares y horarios de recogida
Nos pondremos en contacto con usted la noche anterior para confirmar la hora exacta de recogida de su embarcación. La atención se organizará de acuerdo con una de las siguientes opciones: Desde un punto de encuentro definido según la ubicación de los demás participantes. Desde su hotel: ofrecemos servicio de recogida en barco desde todos los hoteles de Bora Bora. Para los huéspedes alojados en el Hotel Matira, el servicio de recogida depende de las condiciones de la laguna. Si fuera necesario, se podría ofrecer un punto de encuentro alternativo, situado cerca de su alojamiento. Para los huéspedes que se alojan en un Airbnb, una casa de huéspedes o cualquier otro alojamiento privado, se organizan puntos de encuentro comunes en función de la información proporcionada durante el proceso de reserva. Dependiendo de la ubicación de su alojamiento, es posible que se le pida que se desplace por su cuenta hasta este punto de encuentro. En este caso, los gastos de transporte (vehículo particular o taxi) correrán por su cuenta.

Excursion of a lifetime. Simon, the operator and guide is an absolute character. If you want a quiet guide who is forgettable and kisses your butt, Simon is not for you. If you want someone memorable and witty who will poke fun at everyone and himself and keep things light, Simon is ideal. He knows the whales and where to find them. Other boat groups followed us and we left those other groups in rough seas after spotting many leaping humpbacks. Just as we were about to head home without getting in the water, Simon spotted a small spout at the edge of the reef. Sure enough it was a humpback mother and her calf. We quickly and deftly geared up and had a trip-making experience snorkeling just feet away from a giant humpback and her calf for about 20min. Simply breathtaking. A 100 out of 10!
Absolutely incredible experience swimming & whale watching 🐋🤍 Maui and Simon were the most friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and experienced guides. They made us feel safe, comfortable, and so excited. Getting to see these amazing animals up close in their natural habitat was an unforgettable once in a lifetime experience. We booked this activity for two people in the afternoon, with one person choosing the swimming/immersion option and the other choosing the non-immersion option. The experience was fantastic from start to finish. The team is extremely well organized and clearly very experienced when it comes to finding whales. They stay in contact with other boats in the area, so whenever someone spots a whale, they share the information with the others. This really increases the chances of seeing them! Before the activity, they also give you a very clear briefing, explaining interesting facts about whales as well as everything you need to know if you choose the immersion option. Everything was explained professionally and made us feel very comfortable. We were lucky enough to spot whales, and although the scheduled activity time had already come to an end (we had already been out for around three and a half hours), our guide allowed us to get into the water to see them. He didn’t ask for anything in return, and this honestly made our day! The activity ended up lasting much longer than scheduled. Of course, I understand that this was an exceptional situation and cannot be expected every time, but I believe it really shows the positive attitude and genuine goal of this operator: finding whales and making the experience as special as possible for their guests. A very special thanks goes to our guide, Simon, who made everything possible. We had previously done similar whale-watching activities without seeing a single whale, and we were honestly starting to lose hope. Thanks to Simon, we finally had the experience we were hoping for. If you’re lucky enough to have him as your guide, you’re definitely in for a great experience! I could say many more things about the professionalism and organization of this tour, but I’ll let you discover the rest for yourselves. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We were lucky enough to participate in the opening of the whale season in Bora Bora with Simon and the Tohora team. This morning will remain etched in our memories: we were able to swim with two whales, an absolutely magical moment. Before each time we get in the water, Simon takes the time to explain the behavior to adopt, while sharing his knowledge about whales and their environment. He also insists on the fact that their observation is never guaranteed, which makes each encounter even more exceptional. Another very appreciable point: Tohora limits its trips to only 6 people per boat. This approach, which has become rare in Bora Bora, allows for a much more intimate experience that is respectful of the animals and pleasant for everyone. **Title: A whale outing that keeps all its promises** I went on a swim with humpback whales outing with Tohora Bora Bora and I am leaving with stars in my eyes. The team takes the time to explain the safety rules and, above all, the behavior to adopt so as never to stress the whales: you can feel that respect for the animal is taken very seriously. Another strong point: honesty. Rather than taking everyone out in all weather, the team warns in advance when the swell makes sightings unlikely and offers to reschedule the trip. I followed this advice, and I was thus able to see humpback whales. We are far from large group outings in the style of mass tourism: small crew, friendly atmosphere, and a guide who knows the island like the back of his hand, with the right spots at the right time. An experience that I am not ready to forget, and a team that I recommend without reservation.

Super fun tour with Simon and his team - the boat in the description photos does not do justice to the new boat. Brand new, very powerful, and very comfortable, even in slightly rough water.
Merci pour votre retour. Nous sommes ravis que vous ayez apprécié le nouveau bateau, son confort ainsi que le professionnalisme de Simon et de son équipe. Concernant les baleines, nous comprenons votre déception. Comme nous vous l’avions expliqué avant votre réservation, nous étions au tout début de la saison. La Direction de l’Environnement autorise les sorties d’observation à partir du 20 juillet, mais cela ne signifie malheureusement pas que les baleines sont déjà présentes en grand nombre. Les premières semaines de la saison sont toujours plus imprévisibles, et nous tenons à être transparents avec nos visiteurs avant toute réservation. Ce jour-là, la météo n’était malheureusement pas idéale non plus. Le vent a rendu la mer moins agréable et les conditions d’observation plus compliquées. Ce sont des éléments naturels que nous ne pouvons pas maîtriser. Nous faisons toujours le maximum pour offrir la meilleure expérience possible, mais l’observation des baleines reste une activité totalement dépendante de la nature. Nous espérons malgré tout que vous garderez un bon souvenir de cette sortie et vous remercions pour votre compréhension.
It was the PERFECT weather for the day but sadly no whales :( However, Simon is great! I read some of the reviews and disagreee, he was a pleasure and friendly and funny in our opinion! On time to pick us up and tried to find us whales just didn’t work out that day what can ya do. Definitely worth a try and will go again with him if we come back to try again!!

We took part in two excursions with Simon, whale watching and around the lagoon. We saw manta and leopard rays, turtles and even dolphins! We were able to listen to whales on board the boat and then swim with one of them. The boat is comfortable and we were able to do these activities in small group. They also offer a refreshing snack. Simon and Tepura were great guides!

This was my second private whale watching tour with Tohora Bora Bora. The first in July 2021, and the second in October 2025. Each time I enjoyed chatting with Simon and his crew and we saw whales on both trips. While I was only able to swim with whales the first time, even the second trip was a lot of fun just being out there on the ocean. Simon tried very hard to find some whales that were not moving so that we could be in the water with them, but this last time it wasn't possible. Nature does not always cooperate. But, that is ok. I would highly recommend. I will be returning again.
