Our tour with Jimmy was very informative and we learned a lot about the riots and Sunday Bloody Sunday. He was 18 in 1971 and witnessed the events he told us about which was powerful. What a great tour guide!
A very impressive experience! Our guide, Jimmy Toye, was 18 ttv the Troubles in the Bog. He is a great storyteller who gives the necessary framework and tells his story from his heart. Respect. A regular guide (who is not an expert) can never offer you this. Highly recommended.
This tour was the highlight of my trip to Derry in the North of Ireland. Our tour guide Peter was fantastic. His passion and knowledge of the tragic events in The Bogside came from personal experience……….something you can’t learn. I highly recommend this tour if you want a true account of the events of Bloody Sunday and the significance of the murals. Thank you an amazing tour. Can’t wait to return.
We had an excellent guide in John who took us around even in the pouring rain. Having the direct family connection to the Bloody Sunday events really brought home the tragedy of it and how long it took for the injustice to be finally recognised. We both really appreciated how John retold the events and explained the meanings behind many of the murals.
Great tour with Shaun today! He was highly informative and gave an excellent, well-spoken account of the events. His deep knowledge and personal connection to the history of Bloody Sunday made the experience incredibly powerful and moving. Highly recommended."
This was an excellent, comprehensive walking tour that started with a brief history of Derry city and that evolved into a focus on the tragic events of Bloody Sunday. Our tour guide, John Burke, who was directly impacted by the Troubles, and Bloody Sunday specifically, guided us through the events and the subsequent consequences of that day, in a very measured and sensitive manner, using the murals on the walls and landmarks around Derry City to guide the story. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about what happened on that day through the eyes of someone who has lived experience of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
I'm from the states, so I don't know too much about The Troubles. It was sobering and compelling to get a first-hand account from our guide. Jimmy did a great job guiding us on our tour. He spoke with respect and gave a message of hope that we can treat each other with empathy so that we can put a stop to outbreaks of violence. It really connects to current events. It shows how important it is to remember the past in order to help create a better future.
Excellent tour, Jimmy Toye was great, explained everything very well. He was there so who better to learn the truth from. Highly recommended.
Paul grew up here and shares his knowledge and perspective while telling the incredible story of Bloody Sunday. I am glad we took his tour instead of doing the self-guided version.
Very informative and engaging even in the rain! Paul was great
