Mientras pasea por las calles empedradas y los senderos junto al río, verá algunas de las mejores arquitecturas del mundo y conocerá historias apasionantes de los reyes, los príncipes obispos y la gente local que han hecho de Durham una de las ciudades más fascinantes e históricamente significativas de Inglaterra. Nuestro recorrido histórico lo llevará desde el bullicioso corazón de Market Place hasta el lugar declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO del castillo.

Itinerario
En nuestro punto de encuentro en el histórico Market Place, en el corazón de la ciudad, veremos el Ayuntamiento y Guildhall del siglo XIX, la iglesia de San Nicolás y las estatuas que conmemoran la historia de la ciudad. Aprenderemos sobre las figuras que han ayudado a dar forma a la ciudad y el condado. Desde aquí, daremos un corto paseo hasta el puente Framwellgate.
El puente más antiguo de la ciudad con una magnífica vista del castillo y la catedral de Durham. Aquí exploraremos la historia del castillo y los famosos príncipes obispos de Durham antes de dirigirnos por el pintoresco paseo junto al río hasta nuestra próxima parada. La caminata desde aquí hasta la siguiente parada tomará aproximadamente 5 minutos.
En el camino hacia el Puente Prebends, exploraremos los molinos y las riberas de los ríos de la ciudad antes de disfrutar de las espectaculares vistas de la Catedral desde el Puente Prebends.
De camino a South Bailey, nos encontraremos con la muralla medieval de la ciudad y exploraremos la rivalidad histórica con los escoceses antes de dirigirnos a Bailey, que es la sede de la Universidad de Durham.
Ahora afiliado a St. John's College, St. Mary the Less, tiene algunas conexiones fascinantes con las leyendas de Durham. Exploramos sus historias aquí mientras contemplamos la interesante arquitectura de Bailey.
Llegamos al lado este de la Catedral y exploramos algo de la historia medieval temprana y las historias de St. Cuthbert, además de aprender sobre algunas de las facultades de la Universidad de Durham. El paseo por The Bailey nos lleva a lo alto de Saddler Street.

Great experience and history lesson. We really enjoyed it.
Amazing tour guide & tour which takes you back to 1066 and all that history from then on through to now ! Easy 90 minutes tour in historic buildings and very witty at times , a must if you’re in Durham . Also lots of local tips on food/ drink etc . Thank you Peter for a great tour , Gary & Pat .
Wonderful historical tour of beautiful Durham. Pete, our guide, was warm, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and explained lots of complex history in a very easy to understand way. Saw parts of Durham we would never have seen. Highly recommend.
This guided tour gave us a really interesting and entertaining introduction to the city of Durham. There was a good balance of history and quirky anecdotes! Peter has a warm, friendly manner, full of enthusiasm and knowledge . He also gave us a recommendation for a restaurant and a good pub -both of which we visited and were not disappointed!
Guide was very well informed and certainly knew his geography. We found him easy to talk to and he led our group through places we would not have seen. He gave us useful advice on where else we could go after the tour.
Peter was right on time and went ahead with the tour even though it was just me. He was very personable and that added to his sharing of the history and tales about Durham. He was quite knowledgeable about all aspects of Durham both historical and current and do I felt I really got to quickly know the key facets about the city and where I wanted to spend more time. I appreciated his leading the way around the city as Ud never been there before and again I certainly got more appreciation for Durham with his background than if I’d just wandered around on my own!!
