Absolutely amazing tour. The behind the ropes access to the Strahov Library was amazing. Totally worth it. Our guide and driver were great. Highly recommend.
This was worth it for going inside the library itself! My friend and I were alone with our tour guide, Hana, in the library and she did an amazing job! We loved every minute. She was kind, explained everything to us and let us take so many pictures! My friend had to get to the airport so Peter, our driver, graciously drove her to the airport before tour ended! Both Hana and Peter were excellent and would highly recommend! Hana let us decide what we wanted to do after the library and we had a splendid time!
No question this is a very expensive tour, but it gives amazing access to the library. My wife is a librarian and loved this. We felt very spoiled. It was nice to be picked up and driven directly to the library. We had plenty of time inside the library, which was great. It did feel a bit odd being inside as groups only got to peek in. We asked to deviate from the standard tour instead to be guided around the Prague castle. After the library, the driver brought us to the castle where the guide toured with us. As time was expired, we explored on our own. We could have been driven back to the hotel but wanted to explore the lesser town.
Trip was cancelled, and I have the receipt to support that fact. Hard to say more than that because there was not trip. How much more can I say about no trip?
Amazing opportunity. It is clear how much they care for their historical legacy. To be able to walk inside the library and imagine how in times past it was used is a wonderful experience. Hanna our guide was very sweet and knowledgeable. Customized and timed our tour to perfection. We visited the castle, cathedral and gold lane afterwards where we learned a lot about their importance for the Czech Republic. As it was the Epiphany (January 6) she showed us a special incredible nativity as per our interest that otherwise we would not have even known it existed.
We are lucky with this private tour we get to go inside the Strahov Library while others stood behind the gate to view the library from the outside. What an experience!
The quantity & age of the books & the detailed woodworking & desks. A very impressive collection and tour.
Great experience all around! So to answer the basic questions first: Was the service good? Yes, excellent. Was it expensive and was it worth it? Yes it was a bit dear but it was worth every penny. Would we recommend this company to others? 100%. Now the details for our answers: We booked a private tour guide and experience at the Strahov monastery less than 24 hours beforehand and without knowing it this meant that the Viator staff had to do a bit of scrambling to coordinate our trip. Boy did they. Vit (our customer service rep) was brilliant, he kept in constant contact regarding our booking and made sure we were happy with the scheduling and places we wanted to go before confirming. Due to a change in our flights we had to make a rather large amendment to our booking late on in the evening and he was more than helpful even though it must have been difficult; he did an excellent job so 5 stars on the customer service! Peter, our driver met us and was so friendly and courteous, as 2 women travelling on our own we felt very comfortable. He made an obvious effort to ensure that our trip was a good one by pointing out local buildings and history, you could tell he wanted us to enjoy Prague. He definitely added to the enjoyment of the day. Barbara, our guide, was an absolute gem. We had seen most of the big sites already so she had to think fast to take us somewhere we would like but came through in spades. She asked us a few questions about things we liked in general and from our replies she tailored the tour to our liking, most people wouldn’t even think to do that and it was very appreciated. She had a wealth of lovely little stories about each of our locations, which we loved and it was obvious she too wanted us to learn about the city. Both Peter and Barbara were full of interesting, factual information as well and all around we had a lovely time- it was by far the best part of our trip. Each person went above to make sure we had a good experience; it showed and made all the difference. Thank you!
Dear K_N0101, Oh my!!! Thank you so much for such a great review!!! We are so happy that you both enjoyed your time with us! It's very rewarding to hear that we've managed to match your requirements and ideas about the tour. Forwarding your kind words to Peter and Barbara as well! Vit
There are no words to describe how absolutely beautiful these libraries are and to see them from inside and to walk through and see all the gorgeous details will be a memory that lasts a life time!
Thank you so much for the review. We agree, the library is stunning!
When we decided to take a river cruise with a Prague extension with my family, one of whom has a disability with 2 prosthetic legs, we knew that to make the most of our short visit, we needed to find a private tour who could accommodate. Continental Travel was the one we selected. They worked with us to develop an individualized tour that included a private access tour of the beautiful Strahov monastery library. It may not have been on our list originally but we are oh so glad we did this - especially with the private access. The information provided and the ability to see the library up close including the locked cabinet and the hidden staircase was amazing. It was a highlight of our trip. Just visiting on our own would not have provided the experience we had. Our guide was Blanca and Petr was our driver. They were fabulous at explaining what we were looking at. We originally were going to the Charles Bridge but we ended up seeing that earlier so they quickly adjusted the schedule to show us other things, including the Lennon Wall. The 4 hour tour flew by and I can't recommend this enough. All four of us enjoyed this immensely.
Dear NancyF, Thank you so much for the beautiful review! I am very happy that we could contribute to your memorable experience in Prague. And yes, I agree the Strahov library is absolutely stunning. Will pass your kind words to Blanka and Petr as well. Thank you! Vit
