¡Enrique VIII fue un hombre de excesos y ciertamente no hizo las cosas a medias! En este recorrido conmigo (Sandy), pasearás por las enormes cocinas donde se preparaban festines de nueve platos para que él y sus nobles invitados los disfrutaran; se sorprenderá de la exquisitez de sus tapices, que cuestan el doble del precio de su barco de guerra favorito. También puede que te horrorice la historia de la creciente colección de esposas de Henry y cómo, mientras la desesperación se apoderaba de encontrar un hijo y un heredero, ¡Henry tomó medidas drásticas! Este recorrido le informará sobre la vida de excesos de Henry: el tamaño de sus cocinas, el glamour de sus muebles, por qué se hizo tan grande, quiénes eran sus esposas y qué les sucedió a todas. Pero, sobre todo, esta es una oportunidad para disfrutar imaginando lo inimaginable: ¡la riqueza y el exceso sin límites que dan como resultado una de las cortes más magníficas de Europa!

El palacio de Enrique VIII es el equivalente Tudor de un hotel de 5 estrellas. Comenzamos el recorrido en Base Court, donde Henry dio la bienvenida a sus nobles invitados, y de allí pasamos a las cocinas. Estos eran un vasto complejo de habitaciones y empleaban a un increíble personal de 200 personas. Imaginar el tipo de cenas creadas en estas cocinas es divertido como lo es la primera vista del Gran Comedor de Henry, ricamente decorado con tapices que cuestan lo mismo que su barco de guerra favorito. Después de maravillarnos con las vidrieras y el hermoso techo con vigas de martillo, paseamos a través de un arco hacia la Gran Cámara de Vigilancia. Aquí los nobles, estrechamente custodiados por Yeomen, esperaban para charlar con Henry. El techo de esta sala celebra el matrimonio de Henry con Jane Seymour, la mujer que le dio el ansiado hijo. Pasamos a la Galería Embrujada, donde cuento la historia de la trágica quinta reina de Enrique, antes de echar un vistazo a su réplica de la corona en la Capilla Real. La última parada es para admirar la colorida obra de arte, el reloj astronómico en Clock Court.

- Debido a las superficies irregulares y al uso de un elevador poco confiable para llevar a los clientes discapacitados o en silla de ruedas al primer piso, este recorrido no se recomienda para personas con discapacidades para caminar o que usan silla de ruedas. - Cuando gire hacia los terrenos del palacio desde la carretera principal, siga el camino de entrada con tramos de hierba a ambos lados y me reuniré con usted al final del camino frente a West Front Gatehouse.

Sandy is a fantastic oral historian! She navigated us through Hampton Court and Henry VIII excesses. If you love Tudor history, she is a must!!! Sandy was so warm, friendly and engaging. She met us in the coffee shop opposite the palace for a coffee and introduction to the tour. Ms Sandy was such a sweet & lovely lady!; she is full of knowledge. Great communication before arrival with detailed instructions for meeting point and directions form our hotel. I traveled with my 18yo son and 16yo daughter. To my surprise, Ms Sandy kept them engaged and interested the whole 1.5 hour tour. If you have teens, you must do the Maze afterwards in the gardens; my kids had a blast!. We traveled June 5 and weather was perfect. Thank you Ms Sandy it was fun!

Our team were looking to expand their knowledge of the local area and introduce new employees as well.
