The only way to see the Met!

Really the only way to see the highlights of the extensive collections at the Met if you're short on time! Jeff D was an amazing guide and we were the only ones on the tour that day, so it was a private tour - an amazing value! Jeff is obviously a pro and we were so lucky in that the most popular exhibits (self portrait of Van Gogh, for example) were not crowded. Additionally, he led us to one of the earliest works of Michelangelo which was lost to history and then discovered in a garden. He was quite engaging with our 15 year old niece, who remarked that she missed him when the tour was over and we were looking at some collections afterwards, without the context he provided for the works. Would highly recommend this tour and Jeff D!

Great Met visit

The highlights of the Met was a great quick intro to the most important pieces in the MET. You can definitely spend 3-4 weeks trying to see everything, but this was a great experience for my 16 year old kids to give them a “taste”. Rob was a phenomenal guide and was able to compress thousands of years of history and hundred of years of paintings/ art in just 2.5 hours. I highly recommend this tour and Rob as a guide.

Robin was an excellent...

Robin was an excellent guide. She shared her vast knowledge of the museum’s exhibits and artifacts in an enthusiastic way that our teen really enjoyed. We were in a small group and were able to see all of the museum’s highlights while learning about how the collections were assembled and the history behind them in addition to learning how to appreciate how each successive period in art history of the exhibits we viewed contributed to the one that followed. Our family was most interested in the Impressionism period and we learned additional details of the artists, their techniques, and their interactions with each other that we found very informative. We highly recommend the tour and our guide, Robin.

The Met for the win!

The Met was fantastic. I hadn’t been in 25 years and wanted to introduce my kids to the Met. Glad we took the tour with Charlie M. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a great tour of the different sections of the Met.

The Most Amazing Tour Experience!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Extraordinary Experience – Charlie Turned Our First Visit to the Met Into a Lifelong Memory Our family recently booked a private tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art through GetYourGuide, and without exaggeration, Charlie transformed what could have been an overwhelming first visit into one of the most engaging, educational, and memorable experiences we’ve ever had as a family. The Met is an enormous institution, and for first-time visitors, it can honestly feel intimidating to know where to begin. From the moment we met Charlie, however, we immediately felt we were in exceptional hands. He had a clear plan of attack that allowed us to experience the highlights of the museum while making every moment feel purposeful, personal, and immersive. What immediately stood out was Charlie’s extraordinary attention to detail. Before the tour even began, he took the time to learn where both families were from and then thoughtfully incorporated those details throughout the experience. My family is from the San Francisco Bay Area, and Charlie was able to connect with us through his own experiences living and working there. Rather than delivering a generic tour, he intentionally personalized the experience in ways that made us feel seen and valued. Charlie possesses a rare and powerful combination of professional and personal experiences that make him exceptionally gifted in this role. His background working in technical sales in Silicon Valley, combined with his experience as an actor and his genuine passion for the arts, allowed him to bring the museum to life in a way I’ve never experienced before. What impressed me most was that he wasn’t simply teaching us facts about artwork. He was teaching us how to observe, how to think critically, and how to appreciate art in a deeper way. Throughout the tour, he consistently asked thought-provoking questions that encouraged us to form our own interpretations. Rather than lecturing, he invited us into a conversation. He asked us what we noticed, what stood out to us, and what our favorite pieces were. He guided us through comparing artists, identifying similarities between styles, discussing artistic strengths, and even exploring potential flaws within masterpieces. It felt less like a museum tour and more like sitting in on an engaging college-level art seminar that was somehow accessible and enjoyable for every age group. I could also tell that Charlie has a deeply personal relationship with art itself. He shared that his brother is a painter, and his insights into the paintings reflected an authentic passion that cannot be manufactured or memorized. His enthusiasm was contagious, and it elevated every room we entered. Perhaps most impressive was his ability to engage children of vastly different ages simultaneously. Our group included my 19-year-old, my 8-year-old, and two teenagers from another family. Keeping individuals with such different interests and attention spans actively engaged is an incredibly difficult task, yet Charlie managed it effortlessly. He skillfully adjusted his communication style to each person’s age and ensured everyone felt included and invested in the experience. His energy never diminished throughout the entire tour. He struck an extraordinary balance between being educational and entertaining, which, in my opinion, is one of the most important and often overlooked skills a world-class tour guide can possess. Frankly, it should be considered a mandatory quality in this profession. By the end of the experience, we had learned an incredible amount, but more importantly, our entire family walked away feeling inspired. We didn’t simply visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art—we experienced it. This was our first visit to the Met, and thanks to Charlie, it certainly won’t be our last. I would enthusiastically request him again without hesitation and strongly encourage anyone considering a tour to specifically ask for him by name. Charlie is more than a tour guide. He is an educator, a storyteller, a facilitator, and someone who has mastered the art of making people genuinely connect with art, history, and one another. To Charlie’s leadership team at GetYourGuide: employees like Charlie are extraordinarily rare. He is an incredible ambassador for your organization and represents the absolute highest standard of what a tour guide should be. Thank you, Charlie, for creating an experience our family will remember and talk about for many years to come.
