Wat Thmei (Thmey) — Monumento a los campos de exterminio y genocidio de Siem Reap Ubicado justo al sur de Siem Reap (unos 10-15 minutos en tuk-tuk o 20-30 minutos en bicicleta), Wat Thmei es uno de los varios sitios en Camboya conocidos como "Campos de Matanza" desde el Khmer Rouge e De 1975 a 1979, Wat Thmei —una pagoda budista— fue reutilizada como prisión y lugar de ejecución de los jemeres rojos. Los prisioneros eran traídos, obligados a confesar falsamente y ejecutados trágicamente y enterrados cerca en fosas comunes y pozos. Se estima que alrededor de 8.000 camboyanos inocentes —incluidos intelectuales, ex funcionarios y agricultores— murieron aquí durante el brutal gobierno del régimen.
