SF is home and Grace Cathedral is my neighborhood. While out for a walk I dropped in to see this magnificent building - an icon. I joined a tour and saw 15th century artifacts, learned about the Cathedral and the people who were instrumental in building it and rebuilding it ( because, of course, in this section of the city there is always an earthquake story) and viewed this gorgeous building. Fabulous stained and faceted glass windows. If you toured Notre Dame, why haven't you visited Grace?
Gosh - we love it when we can impress our neighbors! Thanks so much for taking the time to come visit and experience a tour. We've even had people book private tours for a group of friends (cheaper than going to a Gothic church in Paris :P). Thanks for the great review and we hope to see you again soon.
Went to Grace with a group of friends for a tour and to see the holiday lights on Nob Hill. Our tour was held by Eden and he did such a great job. Hit the highlights and historically important artifacts. What a beautiful cathedral that so represents the diversity and inclusivity of San Francisco. Highlight was the interfaith AIDS chapel. Eden really spoke to its importance to him which really added to our experience. Highly recommend.
We absolutely loved the tour - it was informative not only about Grace Cathedral but also how it fit into the history of San Francisco. Our tour guide was Eden, and he was terrific. I learned a ton and enjoyed every minute of it!
Today’s tour of Grace Cathedral, given by Eden, was so informative that I came home and retold all the details that I could remember to my family. Now I want to do the behind the scenes tour. So illuminating. Thank you.
‘Eden’ was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable and with very good diction. His enthusiasm was intoxicating! The cathedral building and history made us want to do outside research.
Such a beautiful cathedral, built to look Gothic after the fire destroyed the original, full of art and many symbolic details from the past to our days... However, without the superb guide I was lucky to have all to myself, I could have missed some of it. A very special place and a must see in this wonderful city... All the staff were pleasant and helpful.
When my teenager came back from our trip to San Francisco, the thing that he keeps mentioning is our behind-the-scenes tour at Grace Cathedral. The guide was full of fascinating details that engaged a somewhat difficult teenager and connected with so many things that both of us were interested in. Our planned tour of the cathedral was definitely the activity that my teenager was least excited about, but it was really terrific and the art was fantastic and it was so interesting to see places that the normal tours and congregation would never get to see.
