The description was a little misleading as we thought we were getting a private tour just for our group of 9, but it turned out that only the transportation was private, but that the tour of the Alhambra could have been a group as large as 30+, which we would have been very unhappy with. Thankfully there were only a total of about 18 in the group and the guide was excellent. That said, if the group had been closer to 30, I don't think the experience would have been as enjoyable, as more time would have had to been spent "herding" as we saw with other large groups. I think the description of the tour needs to be clearer that only the transportation portion is private.

Once at the Alhambra, the guided tour joins a group, which, as you mention, could be up to 30 people (we normally work with smaller groups to better serve our guests), and in your case it was 18. We share your appreciation that smaller groups allow for a more intimate and enjoyable experience, avoiding the "herd" feeling that can occur in very large groups. We had some issues with this tour as we were traveling on a cruise ship. When the driver for Discovering Spain arrived at the cruise terminal to pick us up at 0830, we were stopped by police. They said he was not legally allowed to pick up at the cruise terminal due to licensing requirements. After an hour delay, the Tour operator sent us a taxi to take us to Alhambra. We had an English speaking driver, but the cab driver was not very fluent. Our Alhambra tour was scheduled for noon, we didn’t get started on the tour until 12:45, and it lasts 3 hours. To be sure we arrived back in time for our ship’s departure at 4:30, we had to leave there after only 1 hour of the tour. I do not recommend this trip for cruise people unless they can have an earlier Alhambra tour start time.

The sites were simply breathtaking, Alhambra is a must visit location for sure! The schedule was a bit tight though, we could have spent a bit more time in Granada old town and in Alhambra. Besides, everything was excellent and well organized, the guides are professional and especially kind. I recommend this trip for everyone!

All the details of the tour, from the bus trip, the stop in Granada center, the guided tour of the Generalife, the palaces of the Alhambra were excellent. Natalie is an excellent guide, she takes her time explaining and does it in a simple and enjoyable way. Her personality is, as she says, spectacular!!! My wife and I recommend it, it is a mandatory stop in Andalucia.
