La ópera de títeres es un tipo particular de teatro de títeres, que surgió en el sur de Italia y particularmente en Sicilia a principios del siglo XIX, es una Obra Maestra del Patrimonio Oral e Inmaterial de la Humanidad.
Se trata de la ópera más grande de Italia, la tercera en Europa. Fue construida en 1875 y su historia está llena de leyendas.

Beati Paoli es el nombre de una secta secreta que se cree existió en la Sicilia medieval. La secta, tal como la describe el autor Luigi Natoli en su novela histórica I Beati Paoli. Mientras que la novela es ficticia, la historia de Sicilia tiene alguna evidencia de que los Beati Paoli realmente existieron.
La Catedral de Palermo es el monumento más importante del "Palermo árabe-normando y las catedrales de Cefalù y Monreale", lugar declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO en 2015. La catedral de Palermo fue fundada por Gualtiero Offamilio, el arzobispo de la ciudad desde 1169 hasta 1190. Quattro Canti o plaza Vigliena, es el nombre de la plaza octogonal en la intersección entre las dos calles más importantes de Palermo: via Maqueda y Cassaro (corso Vittorio Emanuele). Antiguas fuentes se refieren a ella como "Octágono" o "Teatro del sol", porque durante el día casi una de las fachadas está iluminada por el sol. Los "Cuatro esquinas" se realizaron desde 1609 hasta 1620. La forma de la plaza es un octágono y está ubicada en el centro de la antigua ciudad, como un punto perfecto de conexión entre los cuatro barrios más importantes de ese período, que son: Kalsa, La Loggia, Capo y Albergheria. Las cuatro fachadas de los edificios tienen cuatro niveles diferentes. En el más bajo se puede ver las fuentes como los símbolos de los cuatro antiguos ríos principales de Palermo: Oreto, Kemonia, Pannaria, Papireto; en el siguiente nivel se muestran las alegorías de las cuatro estaciones representadas por Eolo, Venus, Cerere y Baco; la parte central está decorada con las estatuas de Carlo V, Filippo II, Filippo III, Filippo IV; y en el último se puede ver la ilustración de las cuatro santas de Palermo antes de la llegada de Santa Rosalía (1624): Agata, Ninfa, Oliva y Cristina.

If you’re going to do one tour, this is the best one to book. I learned about Fabrizio through WeArePalermo site. He immediately answered my email re: vegetarian options. What’s unique about Fabrizio is his humorous storytelling in weaving history and current culture. The whole group laughed as we listened to the insights on the locals views on the parking and construction. He introduced himself as a source of anything in Palermo, so I asked him to arrange an airport transfer for an early AM departure. A driver dressed in business attire arrived at 5am in a van! Grazie Fabrizio! My positive regard for Palermo is mostly from interacting with him. You get what’s described and so much more--Fantastico!

Very informative tour. Host Fabrizio was very generous, patient and knowledgeable. Our family group really enjoyed everything about this tour. Sample tastings of many street foods and opportunities (and time) to buy anything else you desire along the way. We had the mayor of Palermo as our guide. Sorry I mean Barbara. All I can say is wow. Barbara not only knows every vendor and all of the hidden gems of the city but knows the history of the neighborhoods. It wasn’t the boring tour you see other folks on, she makes it fun and you could honestly spend the whole day with her walking around and meeting her friends. If you going to do a tour in Palermo, this is the one.
Fabrizio was fantastic! He clearly loves his home town of Palermo and is very knowledgeable about history and traditions. Honestly we weren’t sure what to think of Palermo after arriving at night and not seeing much of the city before the tiur but after tasting wonderful food and hearing about its history we now have a place in our hearts for the people, sites and food of the city. Would highly recommend the tour and Fabrizio.
