Waterford fue fundada por vikingos. Eligieron este río por una razón, y una vez que estés en el agua verás exactamente por qué. Construida por los vikingos hace más de mil años, la Torre Reginald es el edificio cívico más antiguo de Irlanda. Ubicada en la cúspide del Triángulo Vikingo de Waterford, la torre aparece en muchos episodios históricos, desde Strongbow hasta Cromwell, Perkin Warbeck, King James II y muchos más.
Existió un asentamiento monástico en Little Island desde el siglo VI hasta el siglo VIII d.C. Una talla de la cabeza de un monje de este período adorna la entrada del castillo hasta el día de hoy. Los vikingos llegaron en el siglo IX y se construyeron dos fortificaciones en Island Vryk 'Dane's Island'. Los normandos fueron los siguientes en invadir en 1170 y Maurice Fitzgerald, el primo de Stongbow, fue hecho prisionero en Little Island por los Ossermen durante la conquista. Great way for a family to travel up the suir and gain some insights into some of the local history. John our guide was very knowledgeable and Andy let my youngest pilot the boat.

It was such fun! I'm pretty good with the history in Ireland and the vikings etc but my family and I learned so much on this tour. The guide and the captain (Mary & Andy) were exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable. There was complimentary tea, coffee, water, juice and snacks offered. There was also binoculars available to use and viking hats for photo opportunities! I'll definitely be booking again next time I'm in Waterford. I'd highly recommend it to anyone!!

Andy and Mary were very welcoming hosts. Andy was the captain and Mary explained everything. In saying that, so did Andy. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. My wife and I were the only 2 on the boat because a group of 4 cancelled. They brought us out anyway. I'd recommend it to everyone

A beautiful scenic boat ride. A little light on the Viking history side, however, rich with Irish culture and history. John the narrator was fun and friendly. He walked us over to O’Sullivans and introduced us to the owner. Live entertainment was really pleasant. ML
