Herb and I had Percy all to ourselves, and this food tour ended up being the best thing we did in Vienna. The food and drinks alone would have made it worthwhile. We started at historic Café Eiles with Schnittlauchbrot, apfelstrudel, and a proper Melange. At Rochusmarkt, a wonderfully local and less touristy market, we enjoyed pastries from Ströck, schnitzel from Radatz, and a side-by-side tasting of Grüner Veltliner and Weissburgunder. We continued with leberkäse and a beer at Leberkäs Pepi, then finished at a wurststand with Waldviertel sausages and an Ottakringer beer. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, and we felt like we were eating where locals actually eat. What truly made the experience exceptional was Percy. He has a deep knowledge of Viennese history and culture, but he shares it through engaging stories rather than rehearsed facts. As an experienced traveler himself, he also brought thoughtful perspective and personal context to everything we saw and tasted. If you want a memorable day of fantastic Viennese food with a personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging local guide, book this tour with Percy.
Hi Cathy, Thank you so much for this incredibly kind review! I absolutely loved having you and Herb on the tour and showing you both the city. It is always a joy to share not just the local spots, but the history behind every single dish we tasted. I especially loved how much attention Herb paid to the history and the stories of each element on our route. Having such engaged and curious guests makes guiding so rewarding and makes the experience truly special for me, too! Thank you both again for choosing to spend your day with me and for being such wonderful company. Please send my warmest greetings to Herb! All the best, Percy
Wow! Percy was SO informative, we learned so much that I even took notes!! The history behind the foods and drinks was incredible. We laughed, ate, drank and my 16 year old granddaughter even said it was her Vienna highlight. Everyone, do yourself a favour and give this a try, you won't be disappointed! Thank you again Percy for your time and knowledge.
Thank you so much for your lovely review! I’m really happy you enjoyed exploring Vienna’s food culture and history during the tour. Talking about food and cooking is something I genuinely love — it’s my passion — and I’m glad that came through when we chatted about how a true Viennese schnitzel is made. Sharing the stories behind Vienna’s traditional dishes and local flavors is always a joy for me. Warm regards, Percy
Great tour, definitely the way to start your trip in Vienna. Percy was a great host and gave good information about the city and some of its history. You get to try some really good local food and drinks, and it wasn’t too much. You will be full, but not stuffed. Definitely recommend, and definitely do it as early in your trip as possible.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m really glad you enjoyed the Bites and Sights tour and that it was a great start to your time in Vienna. It was a pleasure showing you around and sharing some of the city’s flavors and stories. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your trip — and thanks again for recommending the tour!
Percy was amazing! One of the best tour guides I’ve ever had! He’s very knowledgeable and personable. Make sure to come hungry because there is a lot of great food to eat!
Thank you so much, Noah! It was a real pleasure having you on the tour — I’m really glad you enjoyed both the experience and the food! Whenever you’re back, we’ll make sure to have more strudel and schnitzels waiting for you! 🥨🇦🇹
Percy is a knowledgeable, passionate and personable guide. His tour is well designed to visit local haunts, providing a taste of Vienna food, culture and public transit. As a bonus, we practiced sabering: a new party trick for opening a bottle of sparkling wine!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m thrilled you enjoyed discovering Vienna’s flavors, culture, and local spots with me. It was a pleasure sharing not only the food and city insights, but also the fun of sabering together — now you have a unique party trick to take home! Wishing you many more sparkling moments, and I hope to welcome you back to Vienna someday. 🥂
This was a delicious and fun introduction to Vienna and Austria. Percy was friendly and well-organized.
Hello Emily Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed the experience and had fun discovering Vienna and Austrian flavors. It was a pleasure having you on the tour!
Percy is a gem! He took is around town on public transit, letting experience some of the tastiest bites and drinks in town. The travel thing was a big deal as now the streetcar, bus, and underground are not approachable. The sausages, meatloaf (Viennese, not US), cheeses , wines and beers were very nice. I enjoy wine and beer, and these did nor disappoint. If you like food, beer, wine, meat, cheese, and history, do not miss this tour!
Thank you so much for your amazing review! It was a real pleasure showing you around Vienna—and I’m thrilled you enjoyed hopping on and off the trams, buses, and the underground like a true local! I'm especially glad we turned public transport from “uh-oh” into “oh wow!” You had such great energy, and it was fun sharing some of Vienna’s tastiest traditions with you—from sausages and meatloaf (yes, the real Viennese kind!) to cheeses, wines, and beers that make this city proud. Thanks for trusting me with your time and taste buds. Hope the memories (and maybe a bottle of Grüner Veltliner?) keep you smiling until your next visit. You're always welcome back for seconds! Warm wishes, Percy
