Walter did an amazing job! He took the time to connect with me prior to our arrival in Vienna to make sure that we met at the same location. His local knowledge of public transportation was very helpful. I was blown away with his knowledge of Vienna's history, dates, names, everything. My friends and I learned so much. I would definitely do this tour again and request Walter as my guide.
Transit may look like dead time. Long layovers can become a bonus vacation. Thank you so much for this wonderful review, Megan. It was an pleasure hosting you and your friends on your way to summer camp in Romania. Long transatlantic flights take a lot out of anyone, yet you three showed exactly how to turn a long connection into a genuinely memorable travel experience. With our private tours, flexibility is everything. Connecting beforehand ensured we were perfectly aligned the moment you stepped into the Hilton Vienna Park. A 3‑hour “First Glance” walk after a long flight is definitely high‑energy, but it’s also the most effective way to maximize a daytime layover. We wrapped up right in front of St. Stephen’s Cathedral — placing you in the historic center with plenty of independent time to explore, enjoy dinner, and return to the airport without stress. Have a fantastic time in Romania, and we hope to welcome you or your friends back to Vienna for a longer stay next time.
This is a great option to explore Vienna and see the highlights. Walter, our guide, filled us with all the history we could absorb. Although this tour does not include entry, we did not feel like we missed anything.
Douglas, great to hear that our "First Glance" walk hit the mark and gave you the perfect entry point to Vienna. As a local, sharing the history of my hometown is my passion, so I’m glad you enjoyed absorbing it all. You captured our philosophy perfectly: by skipping the standard indoor ticket lines, we deliberately free up extra time to navigate lesser-traveled routes and show you some of the city's authentic side. For me, a tour should be about flexible pacing and making dense facts engaging within your chosen timeslot, rather than just checking off standard sights. Great that our style matched what you were looking for. Enjoy your memories of Vienna! Best regards, Walter Schindl Local Services & Day Tours
Great introduction to the city! We loved walking around with Walter, even though I wasn’t feeling well. He was very patient with me and a wealth of knowledge. Thanks, friend!
Mike, thanks for the shout-out and the recommendation. It is always great when our tour concept and a guest's needs align so well, especially under the circumstances. That is exactly why we design these walks the way we do. Starting straight from your doorstep cuts out the logistics stress right away. From there, it was a pleasure to keep a considerate pace so you could comfortably take in the city without feeling rushed. I always prefer sharing my local knowledge as I would with friends visiting from out of town, so I'm glad that came through. I hope you bounced back quickly and are looking back on your Vienna time with a smile. Best regards, Walter Schindl Local Services & Day Tours
I can’t say enough good things about this tour. It’s a perfect introduction to Vienna on all levels major sites how to use transportation and some hidden gems. My daughter and I had a wonderful time with Walter our guide! Walter, thank you so much for everything and for the laughs along the way
Thank you, Sandy, for this beautiful review. Your openness and your vivid curiosity made the walk a real pleasure. Your dynamic helped us cover everything we had planned and still left room for good conversation and a few laughs. Wishing you both happy travels.
Wonderful introduction to city. Learned how to use public transportation and extensive history of city.
Thank you, Carol, for your positive feedback. Glad you liked your introductory tour with Brigitte encouraging further exploring our city.
Bridgett was a fantastic guide and gave us a wonderful introduction to Vienna. We learnt so much about the history of the city while visiting many of the key sites and landmarks. Bridgett was incredibly informative and tailored the style of the tour to suit us perfectly, including showing us how to use the public transport system, which made getting around so much easier for the rest of our stay. She also shared lots of excellent recommendations for restaurants and other things to do, helping us make the most of our time in Vienna independently. It was a great experience and the perfect way to start our visit to this beautiful city. Highly recommended!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review - it means a great deal to us. Our First Glance walk is designed exactly as you described: a clear, unhurried introduction to Vienna, covering the essentials while giving you the confidence to explore on your own. I’m delighted that Bridgett’s way of pacing the route, adjusting the style to your interests, and showing you how to navigate the public transport system made the rest of your stay easier. We always hope that guests leave the tour not only with stories and history, but also with practical orientation and a few well‑chosen recommendations that help them shape their own Vienna days. Wonderful to hear that this worked so well for you. Thank you again for starting your Vienna visit with us - and for recommending the experience so warmly. Walter was great. Last minute ask for a tour and he was extremely accommodating and helpful. Very knowledgeable and personable. We enjoyed the entire tour and got an appreciation of the great history of the city. Highly recommend.
Thank you, Keith, for your positive feedback. Glad the tour fitted smoothly around your land excursions — and yes, we were lucky with the weather. Wishing you pleasant travels onward.
Sabine was so lovely and knowledgeable. I loved how she organised the tour - I felt like we covered a lot of sites without feeling rushed. I would recommend this tour.
Thank you, Kate – wonderful that you enjoyed your walk with Sabine. She knows how to set the right pace: covering ground without rushing. Yes, we’re “seniors” (50++) – but if our guests are ready for 8,000 steps, we take them places: on the map, and into Vienna’s story. That’s our Dreiklang — First Glance, Hidden Gems, Perfect Day.
Spent a great morning with our very helpful guide Bridget. Walked through many areas but also train and bus to see much of Vienna. She has been a guide for many years and provided a very helpful history of the area.
Janice, delighted your first steps in Vienna gave you the confidence to move around on your own. That’s the whole idea behind our first‑timer tours: show you the essentials – metro, trams, neighborhoods – so the city becomes yours to navigate. Brigitte opened the door; you took it from there. Vienna rewards those who know the basics.
Walter was very engaging and entertaining. Very fluid tour, useful insight information. We couldn’t ask for more.
Thank you for the positive review, After a long, boring winter it was great to be out again with guests. Your young man’s indigenous interest was an additional motivation – found out about his interest in architecture a bit too late. Happy travels
