This was the last day tour of a 7 week holiday which started in Singapore, then Seoul, Alaska, Canada and finally NY. The sights were amazing. NY is such a vibrant city with lost to see. However, the tour guide we had, Christian, was disappointing as he seemed uninterested, looked dishevelled in appearance, didn't engage with the group, spent too much time on his phone, munching food whilst on duty, and kept reminding us about how we should tip at the end, offering numerous forms of payment in case we didn't have any cash! Tipping should be based on merit. Suffice to say, we didn't give him any. But to repeat, NY is amazing!
We took this 5-hour walking tour as a family, and while there were some undeniable bright spots, the overall experience was mixed between us all. The Good: Excellent Historical Knowledge: The guide truly knew his stuff. If you are a history buff, you will love the depth of information and the stories he shared about New York. Great Recommendations: On a personal note, when asked for a sweet treat recommendation, the guide pointed out a fantastic dessert spot and even took the group there, which was a wonderful highlight. He also paused the tour so we could sit and eat the treats. The Areas for Improvement: Safety Concerns: This was our biggest issue. The guide frequently walked into the street without giving our group enough time to cross safely before cross traffic started flowing. It felt rushed and unsafe. Pacing and Breaks: At 5 hours, the tour is simply too long for the current layout. There were almost no breaks—only a single bathroom stop the entire time—causing some in our group to get tired and a bit bored by the end. Audio/Volume: The guide was not loud enough, making it very difficult for multiple members of our group to hear the history being shared as we walked. Summary: The depth of knowledge is absolutely there, but the tour needs better pacing, more built-in breaks, and a much stronger focus on pedestrian safety when navigating the busy city streets.
Had a great time, saw so many sights in the 5 hours although so many things are right near each other. Christian was a great guide, very knowledgeable about NY history. Definitely recommend!
This was my first time visiting New York, and I brought my daughter for her 15th birthday along with her best friend. Andrew P was our tour guide. I could not have asked for a better tour guide. First off, It was so refreshing to have a New York native as our tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, took us around the city, we had such a blast. Andrew was incredibly entertaining, and I feel so lucky that he was our tour guide. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone especially visiting New York for the first time. I would definitely book a tour again just to do it again!
Can I just say even though it was just me and my partner Stefan we thoroughly enjoyed it, the knowledge Andrew holds of NYC and where he took us and what he actually showed us was just outstanding! We only carried card on this holiday didn’t think we needed cash or anything but I would have loved to have tipped Andrew! He was amazing! He was so funny and he explained everything and more to us about this city! Every credit to an excellent tour guide!
Spectacular experience! We toured Manhattan in 5 hours as a welcome to the city!!!! We did almost 30 thousand steps by Jake who really is an excellent guide and we thank him very much!!!! Thank you so much!!! 100 percent rememberable!!!!
Great experience, covering a LOT of New York. 5 hours of walking so be prepared (I thought it was going to be 3 hours 😅). Highly recommend if you only have a short time to see the New York sights
The experience was excellent. Jake made the tour dynamic and engaging throughout. We were able to visit the most iconic places while learning about their history and several very interesting curiosities. He was always willing to answer any questions we had, and his recommendations were honest and truly helpful. The group was small, about 10 people, and he was very attentive to making sure everyone was comfortable. It’s a 5-hour tour, and he never lost his energy or sense of humor despite the cold weather. I also want to highlight that he looked for opportunities to take us into indoor spaces so we could warm up. We are very grateful for the tour.
It was cancelled at the last minute by the operator! So no tour, but payment was taken. Waiting for a refund. So I can't comment on the tour. They did offer to rebook, but this tour and time slot was the only one that won't fit in to my itinerary.
Our guide, Angelo, is an extremely friendly and empathetic person. We had a wonderful walk through art, history, culture and curiosity and although, due to the limits of the language, everything was not always well understood, Angelo was always ready to give us further explanations when something escaped us or was not clear to us. Angelo is a person who deeply loves his country and this love and passion, you perceive them, come to you turning your tour into an immersive and engaging experience.
