We had a fantastic evening with Ha! He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and courteous during our four hour tour of the old quarter of Hanoi providing us with both interesting facts about the area and lots of delicious food and drinks. At the end of the evening he of us a taxi back to our hotel at a very reasonable rate. We highly recommend both this tour and Ha as a tour guide,
This is the third tour I did with A Taste of Hanoi, the first two were the street eats and bites tour, each time with friends visiting. We, husband and I, are repeat customers for a reason; the tour guides are always good, service reliable and very interesting. Hanoi by Night was a good mixture of food, sites, and bars. In all three tours, we saw different things but key points of interest. I had a couple stay with me but was unable to join and they had an excellent time on their tour. We will be using them again in the near future for another guest coming soon and we will be doing the tour again as well as it is always enjoyable.
Our tour guide, Ha, was exceptional - knowledgeable, engaging, and went the extra mile by helping us secure a booking at a local cocktail bar after the tour. Although more expensive than some other tours, we found it to be good value considering the small group size, tour length, and quality of the venues we visited, including a rooftop bar, cocktail bar, and craft brewery taproom. The tour offered a great balance of street food, history, and beverage stops.
This was a great trip as there are hundreds of places to eat on the street and we wanted to try the best and we got it with Nick! His choices were the best and we felt safe eating where he took us. Over the course of the evening we ate a full meal and we were stuffed. The highest rooftop barista funny story. The highlight was at a bar called ME where we hada drink which looked like Pho but thankfully didn’t taste like Pho, more like an apricot brandy.
A must do tour to get a quick snapshot of Hanoi! Very informative and Brian was a wonderful guide! Great way to see Old Town. Brian suggested we change our meet time to earlier so we could get an amazing view of the sunset from the highest roof top bar in Hanoi (Skyline) . We sat at a lovely vantage point started with a Hanoi beer and Brian gave us his intro and some history about Vietnam and the new trending rooftop bars that have popped up since Covid. We then walked the Old Quater and stopped at a Bahn Mi place and had some Bahn Mi and Viet Coffee, this is one of Brian’s fave spots and we could see why. The Bahn mi bread was light and fluffy and crunchy. The flavours were very yummy and their housemade chilli sauce was a standout for me. The coffee was a thick condensed milk coffee, I didn’t really like the texture but my husband loved it and drank both of ours. We continued on and walked and talked, Brian showed us some of the most narrow laneways and living quarters of Old Town and delved into the history of the bomb shelters and the many families that lived in the small locations. We then stopped at another street food stop which Brian said did the best Nam Gha in town. We had 2 dishes one was a chicken salad and the other was a soy chicken and rice. Both were very tasty. Next stop was a very cool bar were we went to try the famous Pho Cocktail, the experience was very cool and to see how the mixologist infused the gin with the 3 spices of Pho - cardamom, cinnamon and star anise over very hot heat and then served ice cold in a Pho Bowl with all the toppings. The flavours were amazing and it really was like having a cold alcoholic pho. Delicious We continued on and walked and talked with a stop at another fave of his, saying they were one of the only places serving this dish in Hanoi, we loved the little dogs at this stop and we sat watched the old man make our food - it was a tiny omelette style made of quail eggs, butter, sliced green onions, crispy shallots and sausage topped with a pork floss. I was a bit hesitant but it was absolutely delicious, like something I had never tried before so I am glad Brian showed us this. We ended our tour at a craft beer stop at Pastuer Bee, Brian got us some paddles of their standouts and his favourites and for craft beer drinkers he was on point - we had a Passionfruit Wheat Ale, a Jasmine IPA and a Nitro Irish stout. They were all outstanding, I’m not a stout gal but I really liked the stout so I was impressed. We said our goodbyes and thanks Brian and we really had such a good night and a great snapshot of where to head next. Thank you Brian
Ha was our tour guide and he was exceptional. We started off for drinks at the Skyline bar, which had spectacular views of Hanoi. Followed by gorgeous street food at a local restaurant. Our tour guide then took us through some of the tiny streets in Hanoi's old quarter whilst given us a history of the area. This was followed by more street food, and a signature cocktail at Nê Cocktail bar. The night ended with craft bears at Pasteur Street Craft Beer - Ấu Triệu Taproom & Restaurant. It was a fantastic tour that I highly recommend.
We had a group of out of town visitors who we took on this evening walking food tour in the Old Quarter. Our guide, Mr. Hà, was amazing. Super friendly and knowledgeable. His English was excellent and he made sure two of our guests who had dietary restrictions (one vegetarian, one no pork) also had options to eat at each stop. I would 100% book another tour with Hà and A Taste of Hanoi.
We were looking forward to our Hanoi by night and it was worth it!! The guide was pleasant, enthusiastic, dynamic. He gave us a short tour of the French Quarter and the old town with culinary discoveries: first the egg coffee, the best we have drunk all our stay in Hanoi, then some small fried spring rolls on the road, a stop at a street restaurant that allowed us to discover street food so specific to Vietnam. Finally, a short tour in the beer street where the atmosphere was in full swing, and tasting of a local beer. Offered by our travel agency, this visit was extraordinary and allowed us to see Hanoi from a different angle, and especially to gain confidence in street food, so special for us Europeans. Thanks to Vu for this wonderful getaway.
