En nuestro recorrido gastronómico por Sants, visitaremos muchas de estas instituciones del vecindario, tanto antiguas como nuevas, para conocer cómo era la vida en Barcelona antes de que la ciudad se convirtiera en el punto de acceso global que es hoy. Comenzaremos con un abundante desayuno en el recientemente restaurado Mercat de Sants, en funcionamiento desde 1913, y probaremos lo que ofrecen los vendedores en el interior. A medida que continuamos por el barrio, pasaremos por algunas de sus numerosas tiendas de alimentación y restaurantes, tanto antiguos como nuevos, y degustaremos platos muy queridos de menús que cambian según la temporada. En el camino nos detendremos en bodegas y bares de la vieja escuela para disfrutar de un vermut con tapas entre barricas de vino y en pequeñas panaderías y chocolaterías para comprar dulces artesanales.
Sin embargo, no nos iremos de Sants sin visitar uno de los proyectos sociales y culturales más singulares del barrio, una enorme fábrica textil del siglo XIX que, tras décadas de desuso, ha sido transformada por los lugareños en un animado centro cultural, uno que incluso tiene su propio bar y microcervecería. Mientras tomamos una copa y más bocados de la comida de Sants, aprenderemos sobre la historia de la organización comunitaria en Sants y lo que hace que este barrio sea tan especial. Después de todo, no todos los días tienes la oportunidad de desconectarte de la red y al mismo tiempo estar en el corazón de la ciudad.

We were a group of 3 with a fantastic guide who shared the history of Sants and the foods Catalonian’s eat daily. Well organized as All of the stops were waiting for us with tables set! Our guide served us portions from the market, specialty cheese, meats and chocolates with complete explanations of their heritage and importance in Catalonia diet. We were never rushed, and questions were welcomed. A great experience eating and drinking through Sants!

What a wonderful experience!! I can't say enough about this 1/2 day off the grid food tour. We started our vacation with it learning so much about the city and the history. Sema was such a wonderful guide; she was so knowledgable and fun and it made for a great day! We enjoyed every minute of the tour with her. We loved being in a section of the city we otherwise may not have visited.

This tour was incredible! Our tour guide Guilluame was awesome! He showed us a side of Barcelona that we never would have seen if we didn't do the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable about food, history, and the neighborhood. The food and drinks were absolutely delicious and my shellfish allergy was easily accommodated. Easily one of the best and most unique experiences we have had traveling.
