The weather unfortunately impacted our time on Kangaroo Island particular day 1. All good on the drive from Adelaide. Tickets arranged and soon on the ferry heading from cape Jervis, crossing Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw. Will was our bus driver for the two days on the Island, efficient and experienced and an engaging and knowledgeable commentator on route. A lot of driving on Day 1, first stop Emu Bay Lavender Farm for lunch, then the long drive to Flinders Chase National Park and nearby attractions including Remarkable Rocks and Cape du Couedic Lighthouse. Overnight with dinner and breakfast at Ozone Hotel. Day 2 another relatively early start as we headed to Seal Bay Conservation Park, interesting location with nice scenery but neither of us braving the boardwalk to the beach and back. Kangaroo Wildlife Park and its native animals was next followed by the Birds of Prey Show, an attraction enjoyed by all and the weather accommodating for the duration. Emu Ridge Eucyalyptus Distillery for lunch and a guided tour of facilities with time to browse the gift shop. Enjoyed views of Pennington Bay and coastal coves on the way to the ferry terminal and return to the mainland. Really needed an extra day on the island to visit American River and see the attractions of Penneshaw and Kingscote.
Hello Daniel, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of your Kangaroo Island tour. We're pleased to hear that, despite the challenging weather conditions on the first day, you enjoyed many aspects of your visit. It's wonderful to know that Will's knowledge and commentary throughout the tour contributed positively to your experience. We're also glad you enjoyed highlights and the beautiful coastal scenery around Pennington Bay. Kangaroo Island certainly has a great deal to offer and many visitors find that there is more to explore than can comfortably fit into a two-day itinerary. We appreciate your understanding regarding the weather impacts and your comments about wanting additional time to visit locations. Feedback such as yours helps us better understand our guests experiences and expectations. Thank you again for travelling with SeaLink. We hope to welcome you back in the future for another visit to discover even more of what Kangaroo Island has to offer. Kind Regards, Pratima from SeaLink.
Great ferry ride. Helpful staff. Make sure you book in advance.
Hello Stay47500581091, Thank you for your 5-star review! We greatly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to have you travel with us again. Kind regards, Cassie from SeaLink.
Kangaroo island as a whole is completely overrated….and not worth the money. There’s nothing unique about anything on the island and if you truly want to see beautiful parts of South Australia try Barossa or mclaren vale instead. These alternate locations are more accessible and offer local small businesses with the same vibe and comparable (if not better) products. You’ll also be more likely to see an actual kangaroo thriving in the wild vs roadkill. Save your money and explore the mainland.
Dear Rachel, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. Kangaroo Island is widely known for its natural beauty, wildlife and unique landscapes, though we understand that every destination may not resonate the same way with every visitor. South Australia offers a diverse range of experiences and we appreciate your perspective on other regions within the state. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. Kind Regards, Pratima from SeaLink
Great service, great people.
Hi 804rexp, Thank you for your kind review! We’re so pleased to hear you found the trip well worth it and enjoyed the service from our team. Your lovely feedback about our people means a lot and hope you made some amazing memories of your time on Kangaroo Island. Kind Regards, Pratima from Sealink
To pay 80$ per person for a round trip and 400$ for a car is just a rip off. Completely unjustifiable. KI would be a good place to go. The ferry fares kills it.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that aspects of the travel costs impacted your overall impression. Our goal is for every stay to feel welcoming, comfortable, and of genuine value. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, and we will continue to focus on delivering an experience that reflects our standards. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards Caron from Sealink
It was a great tour, but as mentioned in other reviews, it is a packed day of activities for both days.. We had 2 different guides (a different one each day) on the island. Both did an excellent job. I would suggest perhaps offering it as 2 night stay on the island. That way things might not be as rushed - trying to get everything covered and making the last ferry.
Hi Donna, We’re so pleased to hear you had a great time and that both of your guides did an excellent job. You’re right, there is lots to see and there's a lot to cover in those two days- and we completely understand wanting a bit more time to enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. For guests who prefer a slower experience, we actually do offer a two-night Kangaroo Island package, with the return ferry on the morning after the second day. This gives more time to explore and truly take in the island’s amazing scenery without feeling rushed. Thanks again for travelling with us and for sharing your thoughts — we hope to welcome you back for another Kangaroo Island adventure soon! Warm regards, Mara Adelaide Sightseeing
Ferry a little expensive but very friendly and accommodating personal regarding the reservation. The island is interesting with beautiful sites, abundant wildlife. A destination worth a visit
Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We are delighted to hear that our team’s friendly, accommodating service made a positive impression during your booking experience. It is wonderful that you enjoyed the island’s beauty and wildlife. We love knowing the destination felt well worth the visit. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay. Kind regards Caron at Sealink
We did the second day tour first and were only 5 people. There is a lot of travelling and2 of the stops were at places where products are made and sold. Quite interesting but the trip is costly to go to places where there are sales opportunities. The guide was good and knowledgeable. The overnight stay was OK although pub food not great. Day 2 we were on a 50 seater coach. Another long day of travel but very interesting stops . There is a lot of time spent on the coach . Overall we enjoyed our trip . Richard and Will were both very helpful .
Dear Jill, Thank you so much for sharing your thoughtful feedback and expressing your enjoyment of your trip. We are thrilled to hear that our team members positively contributed to your experience and that your guide's expertise added depth to your journey. We greatly appreciate your insights regarding the travel pace, the variety of stops, and the overnight stay. We strive to create well-balanced itineraries paired with comfortable accommodations, and your perspective is invaluable in helping us enhance the overall experience. It’s wonderful to know that the coach journeys offered opportunities for engaging visits, despite the extended travel times. We apologize that the accommodation was only satisfactory, and we have carefully noted your suggestions about the dining experience. Thank you once again for choosing us for your travels. We look forward to the opportunity to welcome you back for another unforgettable adventure. Kind regards, Caron at Sealink
Kangaroo island is 100% worth visiting but the 2 days tour doesn't make a lot of sense. As guest you spend basically the first day with all other single day tour guests rushing from major site to next and on the second day you don't do any major sites and instead visit local farms. That is such a shame as Sealink could really offer something great by tailoring their tours and differentiating between one day and two day guests. As they aren't doing it, I would recommend just doing the day tour
Thank you for your thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that you consider Kangaroo Island to be an amazing destination. We sincerely apologize if it felt like you were rushing through the major sites on your first day. Your experience is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback as we strive to enhance every guest's journey. We hope to welcome you back for a more leisurely exploration of all that this beautiful island has to offer! Kindest regards Caron at Sealink Customer Service/Sales
Professional. Schedule respected. Small catering on board. What more can I say for a short ferry ride?
Hello Stephan, thank you for your 5-star review! We’re glad to hear you found our service professional and punctual, and that you enjoyed the refreshments onboard. We hope to welcome you to Kangaroo Island again in the future! Kind regards, Kathryn from SeaLink
