Really good tour - probably a little short for my liking but our guide Gokul was excellent. He talked about the different foods, the traditions, methods of cooking and gave us insights into Kerala and Trivandrum. Very informative guide. The places we ate were small eateries (clean) filled with local people - thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.
Whilst the food was tasty, the tour felt rushed- it lasted 90 minutes (not 2 hrs as advertised) and the guide gave the impression he wanted to get it over with and leave. Unlike other experiences mentioned in reviews for this trip, we were given little local, food or cultural information. We weren’t asked our names, told what the tour would entail and weren’t asked what Indian/Keralan food we had already tried. We weren’t offered the chai in clay cups. We have done many food walking tours all over the world, but this one did not live up to the advertising or our expectations.
Great tour, recommended! Only me on it, so just 3 dishes but everything was delicious and walking around parts of Trivandrum, particularly around the temples was amazing and I would not have been able to do on my own! Gokul was a fantastic guide with lots of knowledge about Trivandrum, food, Culture and religion. He even made sure I got back to my bus stop safely. Thank you!
I'm quite familiar with South Indian food but Siddharth was a great guide who listened to my wishes and was able to find many new things for me to try, many that are specific to Trivandrum. I loved the jackfruit juice and a vada in tamarin sauce and a special pancake like dessert.
Gokul had a wealth of knowledge about the local food and area. He explained every single food and the history behind the place. As I am a vegetarian he tailored the tour accordingly. Nothing was too much as he was very friendly and helpful. All the places i was taken and food was absolutely amazing and traditional. I highly recommend booking this food tour. It is an experience you will not regret.
We had a great tour with Biju. We met outside the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple and at that time a pilgrimage had just finished so there were a lot of devotees doing Pooja there. He gave us a wonderful background of the history of the temple and the pilgrimage which was an added bonus considering we were on a food tour. We tried many local delicacies including chai, savoury foods and sweets - most of them from we procured from people's homes or small business - and we really couldn't eat the amounts that were offered. Biju is a great guide. His English is exemplary and his knowledge of Trivandrum and surrounds is extraordinary. I would recommend this tour to anyone who loves food or wants to fill a couple of hours - it's well worth it. ☺️
