Descubre el secreto paradisíaco que esconden las montañas de Tierra del Fuego: el trekking Laguna Esmeralda. ¿Te gusta la naturaleza y la montaña? Entonces, esta caminata es para ti. Te vas a llevar una de las fotos más hermosas de Tierra del Fuego. Te pasamos a buscar por tu hotel, y recorremos 16 kilómetros en vehículo por la Ruta Nacional n°3 hasta llegar al comienzo de la senda. ¡Comienza la aventura! En total, te esperan 9 kilómetros (ida y vuelta) caminando por el bosque: valles glaciares, castoreras, turbales y la magia fueguina que te acompañan durante todo el trayecto.. Este paseo es considerado de dificultad media, y no presenta desniveles de importancia.

Haremos una parada técnica en Valle de Lobos donde el guía nos mostrará (de ser necesario) la correcta utilización y preparación de elementos de seguridad como por ejemplo los crampones.
En camino hacia la Laguna Esmeralda, una parada en el Mirador del Valle Carbajal invita a detenerse y contemplar uno de los paisajes más imponentes de Tierra del Fuego. Desde este punto panorámico, se despliega un extenso valle de origen glaciar, cubierto de turberas, ríos serpenteantes y rodeado por la imponente cordillera fueguina. Es el lugar ideal para tomar fotografías, respirar aire puro y conectar con la naturaleza en estado puro. En días despejados, los contrastes de colores y la amplitud del paisaje hacen de esta parada un momento inolvidable dentro de la excursión.
La llegada a la Laguna Esmeralda es el punto culminante de la caminata, donde la naturaleza se muestra en su máxima expresión. Sus aguas de un intenso color verde, alimentadas por el deshielo del glaciar Ojo del Albino, contrastan con el entorno de montañas, bosques y turbales que la rodean. El paisaje es sereno y majestuoso, ideal para descansar, tomar fotografías y disfrutar de un momento único en plena cordillera fueguina. Es un lugar que invita a desconectar, apreciar el silencio y llevarse un recuerdo inolvidable del fin del mundo.

When I read the description of this tour, I thought that I would have no problems because all that was indicated was: Not recommended for travelers with back problems, No heart problems or other serious medical conditions, Not recommended for pregnant travelers, Most people can participate, and if you come with inappropriate attire, you will be refused. I complied with all those, and even if I use a walking cane to support my balance, I can still do treks. We even hurried the night before to a gear rental shop to rent proper hiking boots. Unfortunately, when the guide saw my condition on the day of the tour, we were denied participation and I was really sad this happened but I understand that they are just concerned for my safety. They offered a full refund but I did not want the day to go to waste (aside from the boots rental fee which went to waste already) and so they transferred us to the afternoon tour, the Classic 4 x 4 drive to the lakes of Ushuaia and it was a wonderful and enjoyable tour. So fair enough and all's well that ends well.

Ours was about a 90 minute hike each way. It was colder and more wind as we got close to lake. We put on gloves at the lake. Plan on layering and keep clothing change in backpack. Stocking caps never taken off and pulled down over ears for a few sections of hike. Rent boots as the shoes you wear will get muddy and wet! Stretches of hike are over muddy/boggy areas & streams. Part of the trek is up hill over rocky terrain. It is a gorgeous hike with mtn & pastoral vistas. Couple stores in Ushuaia rent the hike boots. Only disappointment was when we got back to meeting point parking lot after the hike had to wait an hour for van pickup. Gascon, our guide, apologized and said should not have happened. Gascon nice and friendly but did not provide much info on the areas we were hiking through. If that is of interest read up before you go.

Our guide Antonela was great and very experienced. She responded very well to the different needs in the group and seemed very competent and professional. Good clothing, good hiking boots and medium fitness are required.

We did Laguna Esmeralda with Fernanda, 4x4 excursion to the lakes with Guille, City tour with Ariel. Excellent guides. They fulfilled everything promised and more.
