Leona was very open to change around our travel itinerary when the weather turned bad. I also appreciated her communication the day before the trip.
Jeff was an amazing tour guide. He really involved the group on what stops we wanted to go to. We were in a smaller tour van with 10 people which was perfect. He also avoided the large bus tours which was a huge plus. There were little to no crowds when we visited the various stops. Really good tour. Make sure you ask for Jeff.
We had a great time, Geoff, our guide was very knowledgeable, and made sure that we had a great time. Our group was not in a rush to get to the airport so he went above and beyond to show us additional interesting places around Anchorage. Would highly recommend doing this tour!
Great experience, knowledgeable guide. Great way to kill time if you have a late-night flight out of ANC.
Great way to kill several hours after getting off the ship and not having a flight till late evening. Everything went smooth for pick up and we were with a small group in a nice van. Compared to the cruise ship bus options this was a more personalized experience. Our driver Taylor made sure to show us the many interesting sites. Highly recommend.
We disembarked from our cruise ship at 830am and had a 10pm flight. We needed something to do during the day and somewhere to keep our luggage. This was the perfect solution. Taylor was our guide and he was kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife conservation center and we saw lots of animals. This was a great tour and a fun way to spend our last day in Alaska.
Good communication prior to the trip. Leona picked us up right on time and was so fun and knowledgeable. Beautiful scenery and lots of fun stops. Saw many animals at the conservation center including bears up close and an eagle up in a tree. A perfect way to spend your day of cruise disembarkation when your flight isn’t until late evening.
Geoff was a great tour guide. He took us to some great places and was very knowledgeable about all of the locations. He made our long travel day fun and informative.
Overall, I was disappointed with this experience. I felt our driver, Jon, was not engaging and provided very little dialogue during the tour. When I asked him questions, he either didn't know or wasn't sure. He was definitely not a "knowledgeable local guide" as advertised in the tour overview! Our tour included water/snacks but that was not provided to us until noon (tour started at 9) We made a stop at Portgage lake visitor center, but the film/presentation was not included in our tour (extra $). We also went to Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center; where I felt we should have had more of a guide with us to give us some insight into the animals there. We did enjoy the bird sanctuary and even saw a mama and baby moose there. We went to an overlook and once again, no commentary. There was another tour guide there that was pointing things out to his passengers, which I feel our guide should have done as well. (Isn't that his job as a gude?) Never even went to Earthquake Park. We were never told about the onboard WiFi. All in all, EXTREMELY disppointed with this transfer/tour to Anchorage.
Hi Chertl, Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We are very sorry to hear about your experience. While John is indeed a local, he clearly missed the mark on providing the level of commentary and attention you deserved. We will be placing him and our team through additional training to ensure this doesn't happen again. Just to clarify one point—the Downtown Anchorage Viewpoint we stopped at is located directly inside Earthquake Park, though John certainly should have pointed that out during the tour. Thank you again for bringing these logistics to our attention so we can fix them. Warmly, Daniel
Amazing tour! Lee was absolutely amazing and SO incredibly knowledgeable about all things Alaska! She was amazing. The entire experience was amazing.
