Unreliable person. We had a tour booked and also after a down payment through a, to us unknown platform, we were not provided with time of pick up and driver. As we were on the flight to Moldova, the company tried to reach us and cancelled the tour for us. We had to book last minute our own car and driver. (which we managed) It must have been that the Moldova Discovery tours was unhappy with the negotiated price perhaps. Arrange your own trip: Cheaper and easy to do from Moldova when you're there.
I normally do not respond to toxic reviews, but I must tell the truth. Situations like this are extremely rare. Over the years I have welcomed many travellers and guests from different countries with a variety of backgrounds such as: diplomats, bloggers, journalists , researchers and business owners, mostly experienced travellers. This time the customer from the beginning of our conversation underlined that he is a VIP person and wants VIP treatment. It all turned out to be a scam in the end. Why? - he would constantly attempt to get 75% off from the normal price for the tour referring to a mystery "friend from online chat gbt" who assured him that a private full day round trip tour for 2 people must cost no more than 60 EUR in total. - when he realised that this trick didn't work he agreed with the initially proposed price and paid the deposit of 30 EUR for a group tour with an English speaking guide and tour in Benderi and Tiraspol and a non-English speaking driver. Pick up is supposed to be at 8 am. You would think if a deposit is paid and everything was agreed the next step would be the actual tour? Not in his case! - he continued to interrogate me with concerns about the driver who (according to his imaginary beliefs) was supposed to be fluent in English "because I might need to ask the driver on the way about time and where we are going". OMG! What a ridiculous joke! Basically he was struggling to find excuses to cancel the tour. I asked him to make a final decision within the next few hours and offered a full refund in case of cancellation, as I already suspected him in froud. He was silent for 2 days !!! until 1am at night on the day of the tour 6 hrs before when he sends his final confirmation. Obviously I made my plans and was already booked for another group. I explained everything to him and confirmed that a refund is still possible. But the guy became very aggressive! and started refer to his "connections with the Dutch Ambassador in Chisinau" ))) God knows why he thought that could have any effect on me ))) in fact it had zero effect but will hopefully result in much bigger issues for him as he turned to be very much connected to governmental organisations and possible being a political provocateur. - he used hate speech in his communication with me after he realised that I am not going to accept him on the tour under any circumstances. So he wrote this bad review as his continued act of provocation toward our tour agency. Anyone is free to negotiate. However, there is a difference between negotiation and treating local professionals as if their time, experience and work have little or no value. Despite everything, we remained available, answered questions, proposed alternative solutions and eventually returned the deposit in full. We decided to get ready for this issue rather than keep the toxic communication. Fortunately, experiences like this are the exception rather than the rule. The majority of people who visit Moldova are respectful, curious and enjoyable to work with. Many of them remain friends long after their trip is over. PS: BTW the account used to write that negative review about us is fake and does not correspond to the real name of the person who was communicating with us and who made the bank transfer. That is also very suspicious. This person is obviously trying to manipulate everyone. Best regards, Dmitri
Fantastic trip, very insightful, down on the ground, flexible and listening. Can give my very best recommendation
