Visitamos el Museo Langa Dompas en el corazón de Langa, que ofrece a los visitantes un conmovedor homenaje a los héroes y víctimas del apartheid. Esta joya histórica está ubicada en el corazón del municipio y fue establecida para conmemorar su centenario. Las otrora infames oficinas de la Administración de Asuntos Bantúes ahora sirven como testimonio de la resistencia del espíritu humano y un importante recordatorio del pasado. También visitamos Langa Old Flats, que se construyeron en 1944 como albergues diferenciados por sexos para trabajadores inmigrantes. , ahora habitado por familias. Langa Hostels Construidos para hombres durante la era del apartheid, ahora albergan a muchas familias, en algunos casos tres en una sola casa.
Nuestra próxima parada será el Centro Cultural y Artístico Guga S’Thebe en Langa Township, que ofrece 1.Capacitación en artes y cultura: El centro ofrece capacitación en diversas formas de arte, como orfebrería, alfarería, danza, artes y artesanías, danzas tradicionales, formación de coros, música y poesía. 2.Teatro comunitario: el centro cuenta con un teatro comunitario donde grupos locales pueden presentar representaciones. Tienda de artesanías: el centro cuenta con una tienda que vende artes y artesanías locales. El centro ofrece servicios de contabilidad y secretaría para pequeños empresarios y empresas locales. El centro brinda apoyo y recursos para que emprendedores y pequeñas empresas locales inicien y hagan crecer sus empresas. El centro tiene como objetivo abordar el desempleo en la comunidad brindando capacitación y apoyo a las autoridades locales. emprendedores y pequeñas empresas.

The tour was fantastic and all 4 of us highly recommend it. Chippa was a great guide-seeing the township in a candid and open way. The people were very friendly and there were several inspiring stories coming out of a difficult environment. Again-highly recommended.

Chippa was THE best tour guide we could ask for. It was our first day in Cape Town and was a fabulous introduction to the hope and resiliency of South Africa and her people. Langa’s residents are kind and welcoming and made us feel like family. Chippa addressed all of our questions, even the hard ones, with honesty and did not try and sugar coat the reality of life in a township. He also introduced us to entrepreneurs and business pioneers working to make Langa better for everyone. The cultural center artists and school children were a highlight, and I only wish I had some more time to purchase some local art! I hope to come back!

Namhla has such an entertaining and sincere way of letting tourist see the real South African life. Staying in Green- Sea point or Waterfront you’re in a bubble but you run into people whom are living in the townships everyday. This tour was such an inspiring message. Namhla shared the gritty but also the hopeful aspects of living in a township. She wove the history of SA and the apartheids regime into the affects on modern day life. Do yourself a favor and go on this township tour and step outside the bubble!

Cape Town is a truly stunning city but to understand what moves the city, you have to experience a township tour with someone who is deeply rooted in the township community. Chippa was the perfect guide - knowledgeable, respectful of the community and with a desire to help others understand that a township is not what it appears to be from the outside. He shared the history of townships and brought us into the present with a glimpse into the future. It was safe, eye-opening, educational and truly gives you a newfound perspective. I would higly recommend this to anyone visiting Cape Town - whether you are travelling solo or in a group. A Langa township tour with Chippa will stay with you for a long time.
