Spanish speaking tour - most activities are extra for a fee - insufficient time to get up the volcano chair lifts

Good tour. After the pickups, it starts with a boat trip in a high walled lake with views of one of the local mountains, progresses up Osorno volcano to the cable car station where there's time for walking or part of the chair lift. After the lunch there's a boat tour on a lake with Osorno in the background then the final stop is the Petrohue Waterfalls with the volcano in the background before the drive back to Puerto Montt and the hotel drop offs. Some issues to be aware of. Although English was selected, the tour was in Spanish, the tour guide couldn't speak English and provided return times to the minibus in writing. This meant when the other dozen on the minibus must have agreed with the driver that they didn't want to take the chair lifts up the Osorno Volcano, I wasn't consulted and there was only time to take the chair lifts to the half way point (30 minutes return). It's 60 minutes return to the top so I didn't get there and felt I was on a volcano tour that didn't deliver the volcano. I didn't want or take the lunch and didn't appreciate being there for about 90 minutes waiting for the rest of the group. Wish I'd taken sun tan lotion for the afternoon boat trip. Petrohue falls closes at 5pm and paths start getting closed earlier than that. Also, the morning lake tour, the volcano chair lifts, the lunch and the Petrohue Falls entry fee (which charges non-locals double) are not included, so doing everything will roughly double the cost of the tour, though the morning boat and falls are cheap. A good day worth doing, but disappointing to not be able to get up the volcano on a volcano tour.

Disappointing

This tour was a total waste of time and money, partly for reasons (weather) that the operator is not responsible for, but partly for reasons that he is responsible for. To begin with, the operator refused to pick me up at my hotel although the pick-up had been agreed and confirmed. I had to walk 4 km in the morning to the pick-up point chosen by the tour operator. Then, when we got to the volcano, it was raining and foggy, visibility was no more than 100 metres. Not the tour operator's fault, obviously, but my conclusion and advice is to avoid this tour if there's any chance of bad weather. We did not see the volcano at all, not even for a minute. As for the waterfall, for some reason that we were not told, the tour operator did not even bother taking us there. Instead we saw some rapids which were ok but had nothing to do with the famous Petrohué Falls.

Respuesta del operador

As it was explained to him, his accommodation was very far from the city center, possibly it was an AirBnb or a private accommodation, it was also explained to him that the pick-up notice is in Hotels and these are normally located in a certain area of the city in which passengers are picked up permanently. From the sector of the city in which the passenger stayed there is a permanent locomotion service. The weather, that is something I have no chance of handling and there is always the possibility of rain and/or fog due to the characteristics of this area of the country. For labor reasons of the National Parks workers, they are in negotiations with their employers and access to the Petrohue Falls is temporarily suspended. I note that this stop is only one point within the entire tour that lasts approx. 7 hours and passengers were shown what was enabled given the contingency. Unfortunately, the weather on the one hand and the social contingency on the other did not allow him to fully enjoy the entire circuit of that tour.
