Just did this tour yesterday and loved it! Fred was an amazing storyteller and guide. A great guide makes all the difference, and Fred is one of the best. This tour is a great combination of driving around and walking to see the most interesting sights in Melbourne. Would recommend this tote to anyone.
Tour is a mix of mini bus and walking with option to add city river cruise at end which we did. A really interesting tour but made all the better by Fred and Judith our guide and driver. Fred keeps things moving but also has a vast range of anecdotes which added to the trip. Thoroughly enjoyable and informative
First, Richard, our driver and Fred, our walking tour guide were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. However the tour needs to be structured better. First the tour needs more time if it is to start in the morning and run into Melbourne traffic. The time to Brighton and around the city hit traffic all the time. Second for the walking tour invest in headsets for everyone. If you weren't the first four people next to guide you couldn't hear due to street noise and the guide speaking while walking therefore away from the group. Finally we had to rush through the end of the tour (and miss several sites)because some people had also been scheduled for a river cruise. Better scheduling of people and tours needs to be done to avoid that.
Our tour guide Fred was very knowledgeable of the city and a great guide with some interesting stories to tell. In a short 3 hours we visited all the major areas of the city.
A bit disappointing, 1/2 the 3 hour tour was spent driving out to look at some beach boxes ( underwhelming) and an unnessary coffee break as we had just had breakfast. When we returned to the city we had an interesting walk around for 45 minutes where our guide proved knowledgable but really, this was a one hour trip padded out into 3.
Great tour experience, a perfect way to discover the city. Both Gary and Fred were welcoming, nice and full of energy. We really enjoyed it
We had an excellent half day tour with our driver/guide Gary, who showed us around Melbourne city, including Brighton, and the beach bathing boxes. We the went on to the river tour, which gave us a different guided perspective of Melbourne. We saw the cricket grounds, football - and tennis stadium as well as the formulary one race track. Then visited the Alexandra garden
Do NOT take this tour. It's TERRIBLE. This was the worst city tour I've taken in any of the cities I've visited. The van smelled like mothballs and the driver was less interested in telling us about Melbourne and more interested in letting us know about his disdain for: road construction repair crews, traffic police, tour groups, lack of parking spots, other drivers and wealthy homeowners. There was nothing interesting to see on this tour. I feel like I wasted my last morning in Melbourne. The other couple on our tour agreed, as did my son. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
We are very sorry the tour wasn't as expected. The main issue was the St kilda festival which blocked the roads and disrupted traffic so badly. We did cover the other areas in the city though.
My wife and I had a wonderful tour yesterday with Fred, our driver and guide. He told us many interesting and hilarious stories. He went out of his way in showing off all of the beautiful locations in Melbourne, the parks, museums, churches, buildings, lakes and even the beach houses in Brighton. Outstanding tour. The BEST ever.
Review Melbourne, you sneaky, coffee-loving, cultural gem! We just spent a day with Fred exploring your winding laneways, and I'm still reeling from the experience. Our tour guide, Fred was a true-blue Melburnian with a passion for sharing the city's quirks and charms. From the street art that seems to pop up overnight to the hidden cafes serving up some of the world's best coffees, Fred knew all the secrets. We spent some time wandering through the Royal Botanic Gardens, marvelling at the stunning architecture, and, of course, no trip to Melbourne would be complete without a visit to the Queen Victoria Market. It wasn't all about our shared love of Melbourne but also Fred’s interesting stories and his infectious enthusiasm for this city. We laughed so hard at his jokes that even a grump would have had a least a smile on his/her face. The beach boxes along Brighton‘s Beach were of great interest All in all, I'd give this tour a solid 10/10. Melbourne, you have stolen our hearts, and we will be back for more. And to Fred, thanks for showing us the real Melbourne – we couldn't have asked for a better guide! So, if you're thinking of visiting Melbourne, do yourself a favor and book this tour. Trust me, you won't regret it! The tour company’s name is OCEANIA and ask for Fred !!! 🙏🏻🌹🙏🏻
