Itinerario

City tour was pretty good..our guide Mitzy was very nice, really kind to the kids and she explained us everything very well. We added the state victoria library in our tour as it was worth it. We paid 200 dollars extra to convert it into a private tour. The only drawback was that tour was overpriced and only for 4 hours. We would have preferred it to be for 6 hours. We also stopped at Melbourne museum, shrine of rememberance and chinatown.
Dear Jyoti, Thank you for your review. We're glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour. We would like to clarify that the original price for a private tour was higher, and we offered you a discounted upgrade from the small group tour to a private tour. The standard 4-hour itinerary does not include stops such as the State Library of Victoria and the Melbourne Museum. We were happy to extend the tour to include more time and extra places; however, an extension would require an additional charge. We always try to be flexible with guest requests, but extra time comes at an additional cost. We appreciate your feedback and hope you still enjoyed your Melbourne sightseeing experience with us.
It is very laid back and whilst nice I felt we could have seen much more in the time. But still very pleasant
Thank you for your feedback. We understand your point about wanting to see more. Our approach is to keep the day unhurried, as we find that a no-rush pace offers the best chance of meeting the varied expectations of a small group and allows everyone to enjoy each stop comfortably. We truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts, and we hope to welcome you again on a future tour!
It’s an ok tours. Not enough info about the city. However it’s nice to see Melbourne. Houses are beautiful along Brighton Beach.
I had a fantastic experience on the Melbourne Sightseeing Tour and our guide Mitzy truly made the day special. The pick-up was on time and easy, which set a great tone right from the start. Throughout the tour, Mitzy shared so much insightful information - not just about the main sightseeing spots, but also about Melbourne’s history and everyday life. It really helped me connect with the city on a deeper level and feel like I understood its character, not just its landmarks. The small bus was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making the journey very enjoyable. There were plenty of stops along the way, giving us great opportunities to take photos and soak in the views without feeling rushed. A nice bonus was the availability of plenty of water on board, which was especially appreciated during the day. Overall, a well-organised, informative, and comfortable tour—highly recommended for anyone wanting to truly experience Melbourne.
This 5hr 30min tour (as advertised) lasted barely 4 hrs as the guide was instructed by the company to wait an hour for two late clients therefore cutting the tour short for the other 8 clients who had all sat waiting for nearly an hour. The tour would have been better starting at 10 to allow people to get through the long waits involved with immigration. This should already have been known by the company as the ship calls regularly in Melbourne. It was hard to identify the guide as no clear sign was on evidence at Theo pick up point. Information throughout the tour was at best scant. We passed many buildings and places of note in silence. The sound system on board was poor as was control of the timing of stops with lack of clear instructions about return times. The bottled water eventually was offered after being asked for. In summary, the tour felt like an endurance test and the guide didn’t seem at ease with the task at hand. As this is the fifth of six tours (one to go) we have experienced on this trip, all others being excellent, at least a partial refund would not be out of order.
Thank you for your feedback. According to Viator policy, the total tour duration must include the time allocated for guest pick-ups. On this occasion, approximately the first hour was spent collecting guests from multiple locations across the city. The tour itself was not shortened. All guests were collected from Station Pier, and as you correctly noted, there was a delay while waiting for the final couple who were held up due to immigration procedures. The tour commenced as scheduled at 10:00 am, with no reduction in the planned itinerary. Each cruise operates on its own schedule, which may change without prior notice. Managing such changes is the responsibility of guests. While departure at 9:00 am was initially planned, a last-minute request from guests led to the decision to wait longer in order to accommodate them. Regarding the meeting point, there were clear identifiers in place, including two visible signs with the company name displayed on the vehicle. Detailed instructions on how to locate the vehicle were also provided in advance. Notably, you were the first guest to board at 9:00 am, as mentioned in your own message, which indicates that the instructions were clear and effective. Throughout the tour, information was provided in line with the published itinerary, including commentary on key locations and landmarks. It is not feasible to provide detailed commentary on every building or site passed along the route. You were seated in the front row, next to the guide, which is the position with the clearest audio. Therefore, concerns regarding the onboard sound system are not applicable in your case. Water was available throughout the tour, including two bottles placed in the front seat pocket for your convenience. Guests are welcome to request additional refreshments at any time. No refund will be offered. The service delivered corresponds to the group tour format purchased, including its inherent structure and limitations.
Truly small group as only 4 passengers! We got personalized tour and got dropped off at a location before the starting point to allow us to shop.
Dear David. Thank you for your wonderful review. We’re truly pleased you experienced the benefit of a genuinely small group, allowing for a more refined, personalised journey throughout the day. We would be delighted to welcome you again for another thoughtfully curated Melbourne experience in the future.
I hate giving a bad review, but this tour was really not acceptable. I think that the general idea--a small group driving tour around Melbourne--is a good one. But our tour guide, Mitzy, was just not good. She said at the start that she was new to doing this tour and might need to refer to her notes, which is of course understandable, but the only information she presented was from those notes! We sat in silence as we traveled to the listed sites, with members of the group occasionally trying to prompt her with questions like, "What's the population of Melbourne?" "What are the major industries?" etc. I was following the route on Google Maps, and could see that we were passing historic/important buildings, but no mention was made of them. At one point someone pointed out a large church that we were passing, and she literally said "Isn't that nice? I've always wondered what it was called." She also just in general seemed to have a bad attitude about Melbourne, and had no curiosity or enthusiasm for any of the things we were seeing. We ended up leaving the tour half way through and just taking a cab back to downtown to explore on our own. With another guide, this might be a great tour, but that was not our experience. This tour company needs to do a better job of training/vetting their guides.
Hi Sandra, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry that your experience on our Melbourne Sightseeing Tour did not meet expectations. What you described is clearly not the standard we aim to provide. A small-group tour should feel engaging, informative, and enjoyable, and it is disappointing to hear that the commentary, enthusiasm, and overall hosting on the day fell well short. We appreciate your honest comments on the guide’s preparation and delivery, as well as your call for stronger training and vetting. This feedback is being taken seriously and will be reviewed internally to improve the experience for future guests. Thank you as well for acknowledging that the tour concept itself has potential. We are sorry that this was not reflected in your own experience.
We had a great tour!! Our tour guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and enjoyable. We saw a lot of fantastic sights and got to walk around some. Melbourne looks like a beautiful place to live.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Gloria! We’re really glad you enjoyed the tour and had a great time exploring Melbourne with us. It’s wonderful to hear that the sights and the experience made such a positive impression. Thanks again, and we hope to see you on one of our other tours in the future!
Difficult to see the sights from within the van, we drove around the city, but couldn’t stop to see the buildings nor know what most were
Thank you for your feedback. This tour itinerary is carefully planned to fit within the scheduled time while covering as many highlights as possible. In busy city areas, stopping opportunities can sometimes be limited due to traffic conditions, safety regulations, and designated parking zones. That said, we understand how important photo stops and clear sightseeing are, and we’re sorry to hear this part of the experience felt limited for you. Thank you again for travelling with us, and we hope to welcome you on another tour in the future.
We were at the parking area from 9 am. We only had our booking reference as no wifi at the wharf. We talked to all the tour drivers in the area to check if we were with them. One looked at the paper we had but indicated she didnt know the tour operator. After an hour we went back to the info centre on the wharf and aa volunteer kindly contacted Bilby who was doing the Small group tour. we were told to take a taxi to meet them at 11 am at a specific spot. Over $50 for the taxi. When the van arrived it was the sane people that we had been talking earlier; So we missed half of the tour which was what we had been wanting to see. If we didn/t catch up we would lose our bur money. Rather disappointing and hard when you are over 80. Why didn't they check their list like the other operators!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry that the start of your day was stressful and disappointing. We completely understand how frustrating that must have felt. To help clarify what happened from our side: - We sent you the driver’s contact number and vehicle registration details via Viator two days before the tour. As we didn’t receive a response, we re-sent the same information via Messenger the day before. - The booking was made under your spouse’s name. When you introduced yourself at the pickup point, your name wasn't on our passenger list, and unfortunately, we didn't link you to the booking at that time. - We understand you asked the driver if this was the “Melbourne Sightseeing Tour company.” As our business name is Bilby Tours, the driver answered honestly that we are not a company by that name. The tour product name and the company name are different, which understandably caused confusion on the spot. - When you called us, and we realised what had happened, we immediately offered to let you join the tour at 11 am. While you missed the first hour, the full tour lasts approximately 4 hours, so it was not half the experience. We genuinely regret that this mix-up impacted the start of your day. In hindsight, we agree that we could have been even more proactive in helping identify you sooner. At the same time, the different booking name and lack of access to the pre-tour messages left us with very limited information to match you to the correct vehicle at the Pier. We truly appreciate your feedback, as it helps us improve our communication and procedures to prevent similar situations in the future. We hope that despite the difficult beginning, you were still able to enjoy the remainder of the tour.
