Este es el comienzo de su exploración histórica del templo Todai-ji en Nara.
Nandaimon (Gran Puerta Sur) de Nara es la puerta principal del templo Todai-ji y muestra la historia y la cultura de Japón. Reconstruida en el siglo XIII, esta enorme puerta de madera es un ejemplo de la arquitectura del período Kamakura. El impresionante tamaño de Nandaimon (unos 25 metros de alto y 29 metros de ancho) sorprende a los visitantes. La puerta está custodiada por dos enormes estatuas de Nio, creadas por los famosos escultores Unkei y Kaikei, conocidos por su detallado realismo. Reconstruida varias veces debido a incendios, la estructura actual data de 1426. The guide was well informed and organized. The park is beautiful. Everything is impressive. Unfortunately it was so hot that it was hard to enjoy walking in the magnificent park. We ended early. Global warming is a problem.

Very complete tour of Nara…but guide did not interact with us…just followed his script…maybe a language issue? Very informative about all the sites on his pre-planned tour, but….

George is an extraordinary person and guide. The tour was filled not only with historical information but also with interesting things you don’t find in history books. He was patient with the children, who were quite fussy because the temperature outside was around 39 degrees Celsius. I warmly recommend him.
