Discovering Amman — A Perfect Day Through Jordanian History

Amman has a way of revealing itself slowly, and this tour gave us the perfect opportunity to discover the city from several completely different perspectives. What started as a day of sightseeing turned into one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences of our time in Jordan. Our itinerary included the Amman Citadel, the Roman Theater, King Abdullah I Mosque, the Jordan Museum, and the Royal Automobile Museum. Each location showed us a completely different chapter of Jordan's history, culture, religion, and modern identity. We were especially fortunate to have Ali as our driver. From the very beginning, he was professional, punctual, friendly, respectful, and extremely helpful**. He made getting around Amman easy and comfortable, and his knowledge of the city added a lot to the experience. The Amman Citadel was an incredible place to start. Standing high above the city and looking across Amman's hills while surrounded by thousands of years of history was truly impressive. The archaeological remains give you a real sense of just how important this area has been throughout history. From there, we visited the Roman Theater, another spectacular reminder of Amman's ancient past. Seeing the enormous theater in person and understanding how it was once used made the history feel much more real than simply reading about it. The visit to King Abdullah I Mosque gave us a completely different perspective. The beautiful architecture and peaceful atmosphere made it a memorable stop, and it was fascinating to see another important part of Amman's cultural and religious identity. We then continued to the Jordan Museum, which was one of the highlights for anyone interested in history. The exhibits helped put everything we had seen throughout the day into a much broader context. It was fascinating to learn more about Jordan's heritage and the civilizations that have shaped the country. The Royal Automobile Museum was an unexpected highlight. Even if you aren't normally a car enthusiast, the collection is impressive and tells an interesting story about Jordan's modern history and the country's royal heritage. The vehicles themselves are beautifully presented, and it was a completely different experience from the archaeological sites earlier in the day. Having Ali with us made the whole day much easier. He was always ready when we needed him, drove safely and comfortably, and made sure we had enough time at each location. He was also happy to answer our questions and share recommendations, while giving us the freedom to explore each place at our own pace. What we loved most about this tour was the variety. In one day, we experienced: 🏛️ Ancient history at the Citadel 🏺 Roman heritage at the Roman Theater 🕌 Jordanian religious culture at King Abdullah Mosque 📜 The country's wider history at the Jordan Museum 🚗 Modern royal history at the Royal Automobile Museum It was the perfect way to understand that Amman is much more than just a starting point for visiting Petra. The city has an incredible story of its own. The day was well organized, comfortable, and genuinely interesting from beginning to end. There was a great balance between exploring, learning, and simply enjoying the city. A special thank you to Ali for his excellent service and for making our time in Amman so enjoyable. His professionalism and friendly personality made a real difference. If you're visiting Amman, we highly recommend taking the time to explore the city properly. This combination of sites is an excellent introduction to Jordan's past and present. Excellent itinerary / Fantastic driver / Incredible history / Great variety / Unforgettable Amman experience Thank you, Ali, for a fantastic day and for helping us discover the many different sides of Amman. We left with a much deeper appreciation for this fascinating city.

Discovering Amman Beyond the Tourist Photos

We didn't really know what to expect from Amman before our visit. We had heard about the history, the hills, and the famous sights, but spending a full day actually moving around the city gave us a much better appreciation for it. It turned out to be a really interesting mix of ancient history, modern Jordanian life, museums, and some unexpected surprises. Our driver Noor definitely added to the experience. He was friendly, easygoing, and, most importantly, very funny. There was never a dull moment in the car. 😄 He had a joke or a funny story for almost every situation, and after a few hours it felt like we had known him much longer than just one day. We started at the Citadel, which was probably the best place to get an introduction to Amman. The views from the top are fantastic, and seeing the city covering hill after hill was something we weren't prepared for. At the same time, standing among the ancient ruins while looking at the modern city below was a great reminder of just how much history Amman has. From there, we went to the Roman Theatre. The theatre is huge, and walking through it really makes you appreciate how much work went into building these places centuries ago. We climbed up into the seating area and had some great views looking down toward the stage and across the old part of the city. After all that ancient history, visiting King Abdullah I Mosque gave us a completely different experience. The blue dome is beautiful and really stands out. We appreciated being able to see an important religious and architectural landmark and learn a little more about Jordan beyond the archaeological sites. The Jordan Museum was another worthwhile stop. It was a good place to understand the bigger story of the country and see some of the archaeological discoveries that we had heard about during our travels. There is a lot of history packed into the museum, so it added another layer to what we had already seen around Amman. Then we headed to the Royal Automobile Museum, which I honestly didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did. I'm not someone who normally goes out of their way to visit car museums, but this one was genuinely interesting. The vehicles are impressive, but the stories behind them are what made the visit worthwhile. It gives you a different perspective on Jordan's modern history and the royal family. Throughout the day, Noor was a big part of the fun. He knew the city well, drove carefully, and made getting between all the stops completely stress-free. But what we will probably remember most is his personality. He had us laughing throughout the day. Sometimes we couldn't tell whether he was giving us serious information or preparing another joke. 😂 Even during the longer drives, he kept the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable. He was also very patient with us. We took our time at the places we enjoyed, stopped for photos, and asked plenty of questions. Noor never made us feel like we were on a strict schedule. What I liked most about this particular day was the variety. We weren't just visiting ruins all day. Within a few hours, we had gone from ancient civilizations to Roman architecture, then to modern religious architecture, national history, and finally a collection of royal automobiles. It was a really good introduction to Amman. The city itself has a lot of character. It can be busy, loud, and a little chaotic at times, but that's part of what makes it interesting. Driving through the different neighborhoods and seeing everyday life between the major attractions made the experience feel much more authentic. By the end of the day, we were tired, but in a good way. We had learned a lot, taken far too many photos, and laughed more than expected. A special thank you to Noor for making the day so enjoyable. A good driver can make sightseeing easier, but having someone who is genuinely friendly and funny makes a huge difference. If you're visiting Amman, I'd definitely recommend putting the Citadel, Roman Theatre, King Abdullah I Mosque, Jordan Museum, and Royal Automobile Museum on your list. They each show a completely different part of the city and Jordan's history. And if Noor is behind the wheel, expect a good tour — and don't be surprised if you spend just as much time laughing in the car as you do taking photos! 😂 A memorable day in Amman, with a great mix of history, culture, and fun.

A great introduction to Amman’s history and culture

We booked the Amman Private City Tour during our stay in Jordan and it was a great way to explore the capital city in a short time. The tour lasted around 4–5 hours, which was a comfortable length to visit the main highlights of Amman without feeling rushed. We traveled comfortably between different locations and appreciated having a private guide who could explain the history and stories behind each place. The highlight for us was visiting the Amman Citadel, where we enjoyed amazing views over the city and learned more about Jordan’s ancient history. We also enjoyed seeing the Roman Theatre and discovering the contrast between Amman’s historical landmarks and modern neighborhoods. The private format made the experience more flexible. We could spend more time at places we were interested in, take photos, and ask questions along the way. The guide also shared useful recommendations for local food and other places to visit during our stay.

Worst company ever

Worst company ever. The tour is basically is a driver that take you to that sights that you have to pay for, you could hire a taxi to take you around and it would be cheaper. The driver was excellent though, very nice and kind, his English was limited but he tried his best. The company wanted to charge me $100 euros to pick me up at the airport and I had booked this tour to be picked up at the airport, I asked when I booked and they said it was ok, but the wait until the day before to tell it’s a different price, make that make sense when they could have told me when I booked and paid, if they told me it’s a different price viator would send me a long to book the right price, anyways I told the company I could pay $30 that is the avarage for transfers from the airport to the city. The company said no, so I took a taxi from the airport for $20 Jordanian money. I was so disappointed with this company more than the actual tour

Respuesta del operador

so many wrong info in this review, first this tour pickup is from Amman not from airport and it's so clear, and we have other tour start from airport witch have a different price, cuz airport is out of the city, also we didn't asked for extra 100 USD for airport pickup, we told you that the extra charges is 50 USD witch is 35 JD, cuz you was 4 traveler, and require a minivan not car, and the minivan from airport to Amman is 50 JD, but we make a discount, also we informed you if you want to get to Amman and start the tour from there we will not charge any extra, so when you add wrong info make sure that we will reply for that, and regarding the driver, he's expert driver and speak excellent English with permit to driver tourist in the end we don't care for your review because you try to get free airport pickup and when you couldn't, you added this, and we are one of the high rated agency for Amman city tour cuz our service is the best
