The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. She was friendly and quite willing to answer questions. Her approach made us feel at home. I needed to access a pharmacy which she gladly assisted. She is a credit to her profession. Steve
This is a wonderful tour. George our driver was very professional and Sophia our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable. There is no way we would have learned as much on our own at these sites. The only caution is make sure you understand the port you are traveling into for how long the tour will be. We docked in Chania so it was a two hour drive to get to the other side of the island. That was my oversight. If you dock in Heraklion, you are 10 minutes away. A tour worth taking
Great tour of the Palace and Museum. Our cruise unfortunately docked in Chania rather than Heraklion so it was approximately a 2-hour drive to Knossos. My daughter loves mythology so really wanted to see Knossos. It is a beautiful and relaxing drive and this probably the most important site on Crete to see if this is your interest. Our driver was waiting for us right at the port and we picked up our licensed tour guide (who they arranged for) when we got close to the site. I definitely recommend using the licensed guide option as they will really help you make the most of your time and point out things you might have missed (as well as providing the history). Definitely recommended for those with an interest!
Tour guide was fantastic but needs to speed up the tour. There should be time built in for shopping and getting some local food
Our journey from Chania to Knossos was very enjoyable. The driver was nice and the guides at Knossos Palace and the museum in Heraklion were excellent. They were very knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the magnificent history of the Minoan culture. In addition, they answered all questions and had a good sense of humor. The only complaint is that for a group of nine, the car was too small and narrow for the long drive, and one had to sit under a five-year-old child, which was uncomfortable. We thought we had ordered one spacious car for everyone in the communication about the organization, but unfortunately it didn't work out and it was a drawback on the trip.
Our driver was on time and waiting for us after we got off the ship. It was a long drive to Knossos, but he made it in excellent time, and it was very comfortable. Our guide, named Sophie, was excellent! She met us where the driver dropped us off, and took us to the Knossos museum. We spent several hours there, and she explained things in great detail, and it was all fascinating. After that, we went to the site if Knossos itself, where she continue to show us the remarkable culture of the Minoans. It’s such an old and fascinating story – the Minoans. And Sophie did a wonderful job of re-creating the world that they lived in. It was a wonderful experience.
Thank you for your kind words, it is our pleasure to turn your visit into an experience! Happy travels!
The arrival is a bit daunting as the parking is free, so the coaches occupy the reserved car space and vice versa and consequently it takes a little time to orient themselves and understand how it works, There is almost always a line to get your entrance ticket, but some guides who speak all languages will offer you to skip the line and pay to be part of a guided group. Honestly, I found the offer a little pricey and consequently I turned it down. Once inside, rely on your nose: if you have come here, you will surely know Rome and Pompeii, or Paestum and Agrigento. The big difference is that here we are talking about a civilization that preceded the aforementioned ones by a few millennia. From here we must start and here we must come as if to honor the legacy of the founding fathers of Western civilization. On the merits the most interesting thing to see is the throne room with magnificent and admirable frescoes, but reserve to admire them at best a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion
The two are sold together and are sensational. I ran in line to buy and found a guide in Spanish as the line walked in Knossos that explained the ruins well. The museum is not necessary. Located in the city centre, has everything explained in English and the complete visit can take more than 3 hours.
Amazing place to visit, we had a guide who explained a great deal to us over the couple of hours we were on site. There is a toilet before the main entrance where you scan your ticket and then none once you are inside. The queue for the stone throne which was originally interpreted as king Minos throne is quite long and so if it is busy its worth going straight here (we waited around 20 minutes to see the room) This is a fascinating place to visit.
Grigorios, our guide, was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Our driver was also very friendly and punctual. I would highly recommend this excursion to anyone interested in receiving an in depth look at the landscape, artifacts and history of Knossos Palace and the Minoan Culture. We toured Knossos, visited the museum and spent time in the beautiful city of Heraklion where we were able to explore cafes and shops at our leisure. I cannot say enough good things about this experience.
Thank you so much for your kind words, I am very glad you enjoyed our tour!
