El Nido del Águila o Kehlsteinhaus se construyó en 1937-1938 como regalo por el 50 cumpleaños de Hitler. El edificio es una obra maestra arquitectónica con fantásticas vistas y se eleva sobre una estrecha cresta rocosa a una altitud de 1.834 metros en medio de los Alpes bávaros, cerca de la ciudad alpina de Berchtesgaden. Una visita al Nido del Águila es fascinante; su conductor privado de habla inglesa le llevará al aparcamiento, donde un autobús local le llevará por un empinado sendero de 6,5 km de largo excavado en la roca. En 15 minutos subirás 700 metros. Pero eso no es todo. Cuando llegues al aparcamiento superior, tendrás que atravesar un túnel revestido de mármol y luego subir otros 124 metros en un lujoso ascensor de época. Allí encontrará no sólo el interior de la otrora famosa villa, sino también el restaurante y, por supuesto, unas impresionantes vistas panorámicas de los Alpes.
No pierdas la oportunidad de realizar un paseo en barco y disfrutar de la paz y tranquilidad del parque nacional. Le espera un panorama impresionante de cascadas y acantilados imponentes. El Königssee, de color verde esmeralda, se encuentra al pie de la cara oriental del Watzmann, en el corazón del Parque Nacional Berchtesgaden. Con 190 metros de profundidad, es el lago más profundo de Alemania. El paseo en barco por el lago se detiene en la famosa iglesia de San Bartolomé. La iglesia del siglo XVII es uno de los lugares más fotogénicos del lago. Hay un quiosco y un restaurante cerca. Curiosamente, el lago sólo se congela una vez cada 10 años en promedio. Our guide Abir was very kind. It was the perfect day in 3 great locations. It is nice to do research ahead of time so you have an idea of things you want to see in your free time once you get to the locations.
This was an all-day tour covering 3 locations. I thought I was in shape, but realized how the altitude at Konigssee and Eagle Nest can change that assessment! We were fortunate to have an experienced tour guide in Tomas Vacir. He was proactive in telling us when we need to buy tickets (the lift at Konigssee, the bus up to Eagle's Nest). If it had not been for him, we would not have been able get into Eagle's Nest, as it happened to be a holiday and the morning slots had already been taken. We adapted by going to Konigssee first, taking in Eagle's Nest in the afternoon and finishing the day in Salzburg. Tomas was very prompt to greet us after each visit and get us to our next destination. He even provided us map location to our phone of sites to visit in Salzburg.
It's a great area to travel and great stops along the way. Our driver Tomas was friendly and informative.

After a long drive, the tour had been closed due to weather. Had we been informed of this, alternative plans would have been made. The driver we had however, was fantastic and we made the best of it.

We enjoyed an entire day with Tomas. He is fluent in English and we had enjoyable conversations the whole day. He loves history and shared a lot of information, so if Tomas is your driver please ask about the history for each spot visited. We loved how this private tour is completely catered to what you want to do and for how long. We were able to communicate with Tomas using WhatsApp to modify how long we wanted to stay at each place. He was quick to respond and pick us up promptly. Tomas really made this tour fun and enjoyable as it takes an entire day. A couple of suggestions: get to Eagles Nest early as the large tour groups show up around 10:30 am and be sure to contact The Europe Journey Team and request the links to purchase the tickets for the bus at Eagle Nest and the boat ride at Lake Königssee before you go. The Europe Journey Team was also very quick to respond using WhatsApp. They sent me our driver Tomas’ contact information the day before so I was able to touch base about the pickup time. Munich’s weather can change quickly so pack for both rain and sunshine. Overall we enjoyed each spot visited. Munich is a beautiful city with lots to see 💕
