Capilla de las apariciones: es el corazón del Santuario de Fátima. En el lugar donde Nuestra Señora de Fátima se habría aparecido a los niños, se construyó esta capilla. La historia de las apariciones dice que Nuestra Señora de Fátima le había pedido en su última aparición que se construyera una capilla en ese lugar.
En 1385, el rey João I de Portugal declaró que construiría un monasterio en honor a la Virgen María si su ejército pudiera derrotar al ejército mucho más grande de los castellanos. Tuvo éxito, y Portugal obtuvo su independencia de España. El rey construyó el monasterio de Batalha para los dominicanos, aunque tardó casi dos siglos en completarse. Hoy visitar el monasterio es una excursión popular de un día desde Lisboa.

My family and I went on the Fatima, Bathala, Nazare and Obidos tour and Miguel was an incredible tour guide with a clear passion for his country and a wealth of knowledge of the history behind Portugal. His anthropological studies really shines through in the way he describes the little details of the stories he tells about each location we went to. Miguel was very respectful of our family's privacy so that we could enjoy each landmark at our own pace and his food recommendations were impeccable. By the end of the day, we left the private tour feeling like we had not only made a friend, but also learned so much about Portugal and its cultural heritage. As an added bonus, you definitely get your money's worth. We would highly recommend this trip to anyone who's visiting Portugal for the first time!

Thursday 14 August my husband and i went to a tour: Fatima, Bathala, Nazare and Obidos. Our guide Igor , very clever and nice gay, told us history and stories about the places. We saw beautiful landscapes, aboveall in Nazare, with its marvellous beaches and green sea.
