A solo 10 minutos en coche de Podgorica se encuentra el sitio arqueológico más famoso de la época romana: Doclea. La ciudad fue construida para tomar una posición estratégica entre tres ríos y durante un cierto período de su existencia solía ser la capital de la provincia de Praevalitana, que incluía el territorio de la actual Montenegro. Hoy en día el foro de una ciudad romana muy importante contiene restos de piedra plástica, columnas, capiteles, epitafios, termas, templos… Conoceremos cómo vivían los antiguos romanos y descubriremos más sobre las diferentes épocas históricas de Podgorica y Montenegro.
Uno de los monasterios montenegrinos más importantes y seguramente el más famoso y espectacular se encuentra a unos 45 km de Podgorica a 900 metros sobre el nivel del mar, bajo el escarpado acantilado de la montaña Ostrog (que le da nombre). El monasterio de apariencia impresionante fue fundado a mediados del siglo XVII por un monje y un superior de una de las eparquías de la antigua Iglesia Ortodoxa Serbia: Vasilije, cuyo culto se ha extendido enormemente, por lo que el monasterio actual se erige como uno de los ortodoxos más visitados. centros espirituales en todo el mundo.
