Sites worth seeing but …

The (2) stops were spectacular. This tour was one of the most expensive tours we did while in Catania. It was basically $500 (2ppl) for gas money. We know it was just a driver. However, the driver, Dan was not friendly. He said nothing to us until our first stop. Then the tour was supposed to be 4 hrs at Valle dei Templi and he wanted us ready to leave in 2 hours. We needed more time. Then he picked an overpriced place for lunch ($16 for pasta anywhere else would have been $8). Maybe this was the only available option, Im not sure. Dan ate with us. We found out a bit more about him, including this was not his normal tour and he was asked last minute to take it. He ate like a 4-yr old (sauce splashing across the table on my shirt, loud, talking with his mouth full, sauce all over table cloth). It took 20m to eat lunch. Then off to Villa Romana dei Casale where again was supposed to be 4 hours, he wanted us back to car in ONE hour. So very rushed and not even sure we saw everything. Then back to Catania (3 hours ealier than anticipated). I think the sites are worth seeing but maybe with different tour company. I guess we were just unlucky due to the selected driver.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but this is the first time we've heard complaints about Dan, who has taken this tour several times. The lunch stop is optional and not mandatory, and in any case, at the places we recommend, the cost of the guide and driver's meal is covered by us. The tour itself is expensive given the distance from Catania; I don't think you'll find a private tour at a lower price. The standard duration is two hours in the Valley of the Temples and about an hour at the Roman Villa, but if you needed more time, we would have granted it. We never force anyone to stick to a set timetable. If Dan made a mistake in communicating, we'll take note of it to improve this aspect. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Decent Way To Visit These Places

Good way to get transport to these places from Catania. The driver had great communication and was really accomodating. The only thing I have to say is that the entrance to Agrigento is actually not €10 per person as listed here unless you’re a European Citizen. We were not and it cost about €50 for two people, disappointing that this was misleading.

Respuesta del operador

I understand your disappointment but we are not responsible for the increased cost of tickets to archaeological sites. I don't know how you paid €50 when in that period the ticket was €15 per person as you can also see from the official website of the archaeological park. Thanks anyway for your feedback.

Absolutely worth it.

Danilo was an excellent driver, and took us to a great restaurant for lunch in Piazza Armerina. The Valley of the Temples was worth the long drive from Catania. We only had limited time there, and in hindsight should have hired a tour guide in order to maximize our time and experience. Villa Romana Del Casale was also an incredible experience (no guide needed!). It’s important to note that this “tour” does not include admission to the sites, but rather is the transportation only.

Amazing sights and extraordinary Driver

Both Agrigento and Piazza Armerina we’re beautiful, but Piazza Armerina was amazing! The mosaics were in near to perfect condition and truly amazing to see!! Our driver Danilo was so friendly and supper funny. He brought us to an amazing restaurant and the way to the Piazza Armerina and the food was delicious. We had the Pasta Norma. We also meet his boss and he was also very friendly. My husband and I will definitely book another tour with them if we’re ever back in Catania!!

Tor Agrigento e Piazza America

Roberto was very punctual. He organised us well, knowing the best places to stop, and gave us all the information we need to get the most out of our visit. He found us an excellent and very reasonably priced restaurant for lunch, and was a pleasure to dine with. Roberto was entertains, informative and friendly. The perfect mix. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.

Beautiful locations

Dario was an excellent driver and had maps at the ready. He was very friendly and gave us great suggestions! My mistake I booked a driver not an official guide. Again this was my mistake. Dario was great fun.

Roberto gave us a quick and comfortable ride to Agriganto and the Villa from Catania. Go to his suggested restaurant, it's very good.

Fantastic trip

We had such a good time on this tour despite being slightly concerned over how far Agrigento is from Catania. We were picked up on time (8am) by our driver/guide Dario. He immediately checked if we'd managed to grab breakfast and as we hadn't took us to a nearby cafe. After a quick stop for coffee and croissant we were on the road. Dario explained how he thought the day should go, to make it easier for us. Including a short lunch stop. Dario was very knowledgeable about Catania and indeed Sicily and was able to give us information as we travelled but also answered our questions. We visited the Piazza Armerina first, about an hour and a bit from Catania. Dario explained our visit options and gave us an hour and 15 minutes which was plenty of time. It is an amazing place with fantastic mosaic pictures throughout. The detailing in the pictures is just so clever. We then travelled directly to Agrigento new town and stopped for a snack lunch which suited us fine. We even managed to see the Valley of Temples and the surroundings as the view was amazing. Finally dropped at the Valley, again Dario explained what was available and where to meet once finished. Two hours later, after visiting the 5 very different temples we were collected. The trip back was about 2 hours but felt less because Dario was able to answer our questions and give us other information about the local area. A thoroughly enjoyable day. Thank you!
